LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS VS. RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 5/7/2015 10:16 AM

It is extremely rare to get a promotion versus promotion event in MMA and we will finally get one on Friday Night The event will be headlined by a bout to crown the inaugural superfight title as Damacio Page faces Alexandre Pantoja. Also, the Legacy FC Lightweight Title and the RFA Bantamweight Title will be defended as well. Also, UFC veteran Yuri Villefort competes and there will be a total of four interpromotional bouts happening.

Main Card

Main Event

Legacy FC/RFA Superfight Title Decision Fight

Alexandre Pantoja (15-2-0) (RFA) vs. “The Angel Of Death” Damacio Page (19-9-0) (Legacy FC)

Pantoja will enter the fight riding an eight fight winning streak and he is the current RFA Flyweight Champion. Page is a UFC veteran who has won four of his last five fights and he is the current Legacy FC Flyweight Champion. Pantoja has not suffered a defeat in nearly five years, with his last defeat coming to UFC veteran Jussier Formiga. Page is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition and none of his fights in the promotion have gone to the judge’s scorecards. Page is one of the more violent strikers in the flyweight division right now, but Pantoja has a dangerous ground game and he uses that to neutralize the striking and get the submission win.

RFA Bantamweight Title Fight

“Cool Hand” Luke Sanders (9-0-0) (Champion) vs. Terrion “Flash” Ware (13-3-0)

Sanders will be making the first defense of his championship, having defeated Jarred Mercado for the gold at RFA 20. Ware is currently undefeated in RFA competition, last defeating Joe Murphy by decision at RFA 23. Sanders has already won three bouts under the RFA banner, with only one of those bouts going to a decision. Ware has won eight of his last nine fights, with that lone defeat coming to UFC veteran Joe Soto. The majority of this fight should be contested on the feet, which is where Sanders gets the second round TKO finish on Ware to keep the gold.

Legacy FC Lightweight Title Decision Fight

Dave “The Duke” Burrows (13-5-0) vs. Mike “The Greek” Bronzoulis (17-8-1)

Burrows is coming off of the biggest win of his career, defeating UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani at Legacy FC 38. Bronzoulis has been undefeated since returning to Legacy FC, having won two straight fights in the promotion. Burrows has never gone to a decision in his eighteen pro bouts, a career that has lasted nearly four years at this point. Prior to returning to Legacy FC in late 2014, Bronzoulis made it to the finals of the reality show Bellator MMA: Fight Master. Bronzoulis will be looking to take the fight to the ground, which is where Burrows will take control to submit Bronzoulis in the opening round.

Interpromotional Lightweight Division Fight

Adam “Primetime” Townsend (12-3-0) (RFA) vs. Yuri Villefort (6-4-0) (Legacy FC)

Townsend will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak, with all of those wins coming in just six months. Villefort is a UFC veteran who enters the fight on a four fight winning streak and he has not won a bout in five years. Villefort is nowhere near the level of fighter he was in the early stages of his career, Townsend gets an early submission win here.

Interpromotional Flyweight Division Fight

Kevin “Pocket Herc” Gray (5-1-0) (RFA) vs. Brian “The Law” Hall (7-3-0) (Legacy FC)

Gray will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak and he is the current Caged Aggression Flyweight Champion. Hall has won two of his last three fights and he recently challenged Damacio Page for the Legacy FC Flyweight Title. Hall’s best chance at winning is to keep the fight standing, but Gray will eventually ground him to get the decision.

Interpromotional Welterweight Division Fight

Bojan “Boji” Velickovic (10-3-0) (RFA) vs. Charles “Kid Dynamite” Byrd (6-3-0) (Legacy FC)

Velickovic has won three of his last five fights, with those two losses coming to UFC veterans Gilbert Smith and Krzysztof Jotko. Byrd has won five of his last six fights, with that lone loss coming to longtime MMA veteran Derrick Krantz. Velickovic is a dominating ground fighter and he will eventually get Byrd to the ground to gain the submission victory.
