UFC FIGHT NIGHT 67 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 5/29/2015 8:48 PM

The UFC is not only returning to Brazil this Saturday Night, but a former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion will be returning at UFC Fight Night 67. The event will be headlined by a key welterweight division clash between Carlos Condit and Thiago Alves. Also, Charles Oliveira faces Nik Lentz in a rematch and TUF Smashes Champion Norman Parke is in action.

Main Card

Main Event

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Thiago “Pitbull” Alves (21-9-0) vs. “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (29-8-0)

Alves has won three of his last four under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Jordan Mein by TKO at UFC 183. Condit will be returning after a year-plus layoff, as he was dealing with a knee injury suffered while fighting Tyron Woodley at UFC 171. Alves has not won three fights in a row in nearly seven years, he is currently on a two fight winning streak. Condit has only won just one of his last four fights and he is a former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion. Condit’s knee is the big question heading into the fight and Alves has some of the best leg kicks in the UFC, Alves wears down Condit with leg kicks on route to a decision win.

Co-Main Event

UFC Featherweight Division Fight

Nik “The Carny” Lentz (25-6-2-1NC) vs. Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira (19-4-0-1NC)

Lentz has won four of five since dropping to featherweight, with a notable win coming over Manny Gamburyan at UFC Fight Night: Brown vs. Silva. Oliveira enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Jeremy Stephens at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Lentz previously competed as a lightweight in the UFC, earning a record of 5-2-0-1NC during his time in the weight class. Oliveira had originally defeated Lentz in their first meeting at UFC On Versus IV, but the bout was changed to a no contest after an illegal knee strike from Oliveira. Lentz has a great ground game, but Oliveira is better both on the feet and on the ground, Oliveira gets a late submission win here.

UFC Lightweight Division Fight

“King” KJ Noons (13-7-0-1NC) vs. Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira (10-2-1-1NC)

Noons has won two of four during his time in the UFC, but he is coming off of a no contest against Daron Cruickshank at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Oliveira is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. LaFlare. This fight should be nothing short of an exciting slugfest, which is where Noon’s superior boxing gets him a TKO win.

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Francimar “Bodao” Barroso (16-4-0) vs. Ryan “The Real Deal” Jimmo (19-4-0)

Barroso will be looking to rebound from his first defeat in the UFC, which came to Hans Stringer at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Henderson II. Jimmo has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with his last fight being a loss to Ovince St. Preux at UFC 174. Neither fighter is a world beater in the division, but Jimmo has the better striking and he uses that to get a decision on Barroso.

UFC Lightweight Division Fight

“Stormin’” Norman Parke (20-3-1) vs. Francisco “Massaranduba” Trinaldo (16-4-0)

Parke was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes and he has won four of six fights under the UFC banner. Trinaldo has won three of his last four UFC bouts and this fight will mark his third straight UFC bout in Brazil. Trinaldo is going to give Parke some problems, but Parke has incredible striking and that will give him enough of an edge to secure a decision.

UFC Welterweight Division Fight

Wendell “The Machine” Oliveira (24-8-0) vs. Darren Till (12-0-0)

Oliveira is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night: Bigfoot vs. Arlovski II. Till will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is the current MMA Sanda Combat Welterweight Champion. Till has not fought anybody near the caliber of even the lowest ranked UFC fighter, Oliveira gets the quick TKO here.
