INVICTA FC 13 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 7/8/2015 4:45 PM

Before we get to the massive weekend of UFC events, we get treated first to another loaded line up from Invicta FC. The event will be headlined by a trio of title fights in the featherweight, bantamweight and atomweight divisions. Also, Marina Shafir of Ronda Rousey’s “Four Horsewomen” makes her promotional debut and other top female MMA prospects are in action.

Main Event

Invicta FC Featherweight Title Fight

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino (13-1-0-1NC) (Champion) vs. Faith “The Immortal” Van Duin (5-1-0)

Justino will be making the second defense of her championship, last defending it against Charmaine Tweet at Invicta FC 11. Van Duin is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated Amanda Bell at Invicta FC 12. Justino may be making her final title defense at this event, as she plans on dropping to bantamweight before entering the UFC in 2016. Van Duin has already held gold in her career, as she is a former Storm MMA Women’s Featherweight Champion. Justino will simply walk up to Van Duin and smash her until the referee shows mercy, first round finish for the champion.

Invicta FC Bantamweight Title Decision Fight

Irene Aldana (5-1-0) vs. Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger (15-5-0)

Aldana is currently undefeated under the Invicta FC banner, defeating both Peggy Morgan and Colleen Schneider. Evinger is also undefeated in Invicta FC competition, last defeating Cindy Dandois by submission at Invicta FC X. Aldana has already fought six times as a pro, with only one of those bouts going past the opening round. Evinger has already fought three UFC veterans in her career, those three UFC veterans are Sara McMann, Julie Kedzie and Alexis Davis. Aldana has been on quite the roll since coming to Invicta FC, but Evinger will ground her for five rounds to get a title and a decision.

Invicta FC Atomweight Title Fight

Herica Tiburcio (9-2-0) (Champion) vs. Ayaka Hamasaki (11-1-0)

Tiburcio will be making the first defense of her championship, which she won by defeating Michelle Waterson at Invicta FC X. Hamasaki has won just one of two fights in Invicta FC competition, but that loss came to UFC veteran Claudio Gadelha at Invicta FC VI. Tiburcio has only fought one UFC veteran thus far in her career, that veteran was Claudia Gadelha and that bout happened back in May 2013. Hamasaki has competed in the Jewels promotion for the majority of her career, winning all seven fights in the promotion. Hamasaki is best when taking the fight to the ground, which is where Tiburcio will catch Hamasaki with a submission in the third round.

Invicta FC Bantamweight Division Fight

Jessica-Rose “Jessy Jess” Clark (5-1-0) vs. Pannie “Banzai” Kianzad (7-0-0)

Clark will be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight and she is the current Roshambo MMA Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Kianzad will also be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight and she is the current Cage Warriors Women’s Bantamweight Champion. This could easily be the best fight on the card, but Kianzad will catch Clark sometime in the second round for a TKO finish.

Invicta FC Atomweight Division Fight

Amber “The Bully” Brown (4-1-0) vs. “The Alpha Female” Catherine Costigan (5-0-0)

Brown is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated Liz McCarthy by decision at Invicta FC IX. Costigan will be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight and she is a veteran of the Cage Warriors promotion. Costigan is a wizard on the ground and it will not take long for her to drag Brown to the ground and get a submission win here.

Invicta FC Strawweight Division Fight

Amy “The Resurrection” Montenegro (6-1-0) vs. Jamie Moyle (2-0-0)

Montenegro is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated Brianna Van Buren at Invicta FC 11. Moyle has spent her entire pro career in Invicta FC, last defeating JJ Aldrich by submission at Invicta FC 11. Moyle has been in some good scraps since turning pro, but Montengro will eventually ground her to earn a decision.

Invicta FC Featherweight Division Fight

Amber Leibrock (0-0-0) vs. Marina “The Supernova From Moldova” Shafir (1-1-0)

Leibrock will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, but she did go undefeated as an amateur fighter. Shafir will be returning to action after a year’s break and she will also be making her Invicta FC debut in this fight. Shafir is not being brought into lose in her promotional debut, she runs through Leibrock and gets the first round submission.
