CORMIER ON TEIXEIRA’S VICTORY: “GLOVER LOOKED AMAZING. HE NEVER STRAYED FROM THE GAMEPLAN AND GOT THE FINISH.”

Florian on recent poor judging: “It’s a professional sport. These judges are supposed to be trained. We should be able to take it to the judges.”

LOS ANGELES – Kenny Florian, Daniel Cormier and Karyn Bryant review last weekend’s UFC FIGHT NIGHT and talk about the winners and controversial decisions. They also play matchmaker for upcoming fights and go Fighter vs. Writer vs. Fighter with Ariel Helwani.

UFC TONIGHT host Daniel Cormier on the just announced Aldo vs. McGregor at UFC 194: “This is the fight everyone wanted to see. This fight actually got bigger. McGregor went out and did what he needed to do. He finished Mendes and he made this a humongous fight in December.”

Cormier on Glover Teixeira’s victory over Ovince Saint Preux: “Glover looked amazing. He has dynamite in his hands. He never strayed from the game plan, took Ovince down and got a finish. We figured the biggest advantage would be Glover’s wrestling and it showed. Ovince was doing well at the beginning with his kicks to the body, but he fell in love with it. Eventually he was feeding his leg for Glover to take him down. He was telegraphing his kick. At times it felt like he didn’t need to set up his kicks with his punches and that cost him.”

UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian on Ovince Saint Preux’s development: “I feel like he should be much better at this point in his career. I still think he hasn’t made the big improvements. I’d like to see him move to a bigger camp to progress further in his career.”

Cormier on Teixeira’s next fight: “I think they should give him the winner of Anthony Johnson and Jimi Manuwa.”

Florian on who Teixeira should fight next: “I like the winner of Ryan Bader vs. Rashad Evans.”

Florian on how the judging could be fixed: “It’s a professional sport. These judges are supposed to be trained. We should be able to take it to the judges. I can’t believe they gave it to Beneil Dariush. Beneil fought a great fight, but it should have been a Michael Johnson win. It’s about effective striking and effective grappling. It’s tough for a judge because sometimes they have bad angles and they can’t always see everything. I’m not even sure if they need to be cage-side. The oh’s and ah’s from the crowd can influence them. Maybe the judges should be backstage and watching on TVs with headphones on.”

Karyn Bryant on the next UFC on FOX fight: “The next UFC on FOX fight takes place in Orlando at the Amway Center on Saturday, Dec. 19.”

UFC TONIGHT Insider Ariel Helwani on heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum’s first title defense: “Dana White just confirmed with me that Fabricio’s first title defense will be against Cain Velasquez. He’s not sure when or where it will take place, yet.”

Helwani with an update on Travis Browne: “As of right now, Travis Browne is sidelined pending the results of an internal investigation.”

Helwani on Gunnar Nelson’s next fight: “Gunnar Nelson wants to fight in Dublin on the upcoming card, but doesn’t have an opponent. His team wanted to fight Demian Maia, but he has staph infection in his thigh, so he’s out right now.”
