A potentially new middleweight champion will be crowned at Bellator 144 as former champion Brandon Halsey faces Rafael Carvalho. Halsey was stripped of the belt after failing to make weight for a title defense against Kendall Grove at Bellator 137, Halsey still won the catchweight bout. Carvalho is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA, having defeated Glory Kickboxing great Joe Schilling at Bellator 136. Bellator 144 takes place on October 23rd from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas headlining.
