By David Tees on 9/11/2015 4:30 PM

Despite losing the headlining fight the night before the event, Legacy Fighting Championships will still be marching on this Friday Night. The event will now be headlined by a lightweight division attraction pitting JC Cottrell against Ed Cline. Also, there will be ten other top MMA prospects looking to take a big step in their careers by competing in the Legacy FC cage.

Main Card

Main Event

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

JC Cottrell (15-3-0) vs. Ed Cline (8-4-1)

Cottrell will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Cline is currently winless under the Legacy FC banner, having dropped a bout to Dave Burrow at Legacy FC 35. Cottrell competed once in Bellator MMA and he is the current Battlegrounds MMA Lightweight Champion. Cline will be returning to action after a one year absence and he once fought UFC veteran Cody Pfister to a draw. Cline is a quality journeyman fighter at this stage of his career, but Cottrell is bound for a big promotion soon enough and he quickly submits Cline in the first.

Co-Main Event

Legacy FC Featherweight Division Fight

Caio “Uruguai” Machado (3-0-0) vs. James “Whitey” Warren (6-2-0)

Machado will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he will be returning to action after a year-plus layoff. Warren has won just one of two under the Legacy FC banner, with that lone win coming over Jesse Chaffin at Legacy FC 35. Machado will be making his North American MMA debut, as all three of his previous bouts came in Brazil. Warren will be fighting for the second time this year and he is the current Xtreme Fight League Featherweight Champion. Warren has the experience edge heading into this bout, but Machado is an amazing striker and he finishes Warren with strikes in the second.

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Derrick Adkins (3-1-0) vs. Jesse Chaffin (6-3-0)

Adkins will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he will be fighting for the fifth time this year. Chaffin is currently winless under the Legacy FC banner and he will be returning to action after a year-plus absence. Adkins has had a pretty good rookie year since turning pro this past January, Adkins continues the run by submitting Chaffin in the first.

Legacy FC Middleweight Division Fight

Canaan “Super Beast” Grigsby (4-2-0) vs. Bilal Williams (3-2-0)

Grigsby is currently winless under the Legacy FC banner, having dropped a bout to Rafael Lovato Jr. at Legacy FC 35. Williams is also winless thus far during his Legacy FC tenure, last losing to Charles Ontiveros at Legacy FC 44. Williams is coming off of a short layoff since his last bout, Grigsby takes advantage to quickly finish Williams in the first round.

Legacy FC Women’s Strawweight Division Fight

Kathina “Killswitch” Catron (6-6-0) vs. Kaline “The Dark Angel” Medeiros (5-4-0)

Catron has won two of her last three fights and she once fought UFC veteran Rose Namajunas at an Invicta FC event. Medeiros will enter the fight on a two fight winning streak, last defeating Sarah Payant at Bellator 140. Medeiros has seen a career turnaround after a rough start professionally, Medeiros grinds out a decision win in this encounter.

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Emmanuel Rivera (1-0-0) vs. Wesley Sharp (0-0-0)

Rivera made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at a Legends Fights event, defeating Timothy Janssen by TKO. Sharp will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did go undefeated as an amateur. These two fighters are getting a huge opportunity to compete on the main card after the main event change, Rivera gets another TKO win in this one.
