CORMIER ON A REMATCH WITH JONES: “I’M THE CHAMPION NOW AND I WANT TO FIGHT HIM.”

Rousey on fighting Holm: “I’m going to have to out-strike her in some way.”

Florian on GSP’s Return: “He should fight Anderson Silva. They were supposed to fight in a super fight when they were both champions. Let’s make it happen.”

LOS ANGELES – UFC TONIGHT host Daniel Cormier discusses Jon Jones return. UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey discusses her title defense at UFC 193. Karyn Bryant and Ariel Helwani add reports.

UFC TONIGHT host Daniel Cormier on if he thinks Jon Jones deserves an immediate title shot: “If Jones beat me in January, and he said, Daniel you have to earn your way back, I would have fought the two best guys in the division, Anthony Rumble Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson, to get back there. And if Jones was still the champion, I would have earned that rematch. The thing is, I’m the champion now and I want fight him. I’m willing to give him a chance at the belt. It’s great for the fans and great for the organization because he’s the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. We should be fighting. He beat me, too. I said from the moment we walked out of the Octagon on January 3rd, I’d like a rematch. Now I’m the champ and he’s the challenger. Once they lock us in the Octagon, we’ll make for some good business and good fireworks. I can’t wait to fight him again.”

UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian if Jones should get the title fight against Cormier: “He is the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet and hopefully he’s learned from this whole mess. He’s such a talented fighter. It’s good to see him get back in there. The only person he should be fighting is you [Cormier]. He’s beaten everyone else.”

Cormier on if he’s been offered the Jones fight yet: “After the Gustafsson fight, they [the UFC] gave me some time to recover. Tomorrow, I’ll be going to Vegas with my manager and we’re discussing the future, if it’ll be Jones and where it’ll be.”

Cormier on if he’d want to fight Jones in New York: “I’m not going to fight him in New York. I’m not going to give him that comfort. I want to make him face the people who are disappointed with his actions. Obviously, fighting in Madison Square Garden would be a tremendous opportunity for everyone. But I’m the champ and I want to dictate where I want to fight. It would be huge. I’ve wrestled in Madison Square Garden. I’ve done it before. I don’t need Madison Square Garden anymore.”

Ronda Rousey on fighting Holly Holm next: “They’re counting on me trying to rush it. With Holly, I’ll really have to be patient. They’re going to try to stay away and try to run and be safe so much that I’ll get frustrated. That’s what I intend not to do. I’m going to have to set up for something and not come in right away.”

Rousey on how she’ll fight Holm, who’s a strong striker: “Well, you have to strike first in order to do any grappling or clinching at all. There’s no skipping that. Of course, I’m going to have to out-strike her in some way or form in order to get any grappling at all. Thinking about only the end and skipping the stuff in between is a big mistake that people make and I don’t intend to do that.”

Rousey on not having anger against Holm: “I don’t need it. It’s nice not having someone who you have a problem with. It’s tiring not liking the person. With Bethe, I dragged out the fight. I wanted to finish her in a particular way. I wanted to knock her out. With Holly, my mind is much more open to take advantage of the first opportunity with what’s there. I feel like I’m going to show much more of what I’m capable of instead of being one thing.”

Rousey on how she manages being the champ and all the distractions: “It’s priorities - knowing what priorities, when. Everything else that comes up depends on me being the champ, so that comes first. If there’s acting or modeling or sponsorship obligations, the fighting has to come first, and that’s the hard part. When you’re the champ, you get all kinds of invitations to things. People say, come hang out with me at this and that. When I’m in camp, you can’t do any other things. There are so many awesome opportunities of things to do and distractions. You have to prioritize and know what you have to do.”

Rousey on after the fight: “There are a couple of stops. First is the medical tent. That’s the first place where there’s not a bunch of people watching me. Then the drug testing, press conference, and then you get to leave and take a shower to get ready to go out, and that’s my first moment alone. That’s like the time you look in the mirror and you go, ‘What did I do today?’ and I take my giggly shower and I can’t stop laughing. Then it’s out for the hot wings.”

Rousey on what she wants to do next: “I want to beat Holly Holm because no one has beaten Holly Holm yet. That’s the most important thing.”

Robbie Lawler on fighting Condit: “I think he believes in himself. So do I, and that’s what’s going to make this a fight great. I believe in myself, I believe I’m the best in the world and I’m going to go out there and showcase it.”

Condit telling Lawler how the fight is going to end: “I’ll take that belt, bro. I’m going to finish you.”

Lawler tells Condit how the fight is going to end: “I’m going to beat you down - plain and simple – a basic beat down.”

Ariel Helwani on if Georges St-Pierre should return to the UFC: “Georges St-Pierre, no matter what, should not return to MMA. There’s no reason for him to come back. He left perfectly. People dream of walking away the way he walked away.”

Florian on who St-Pierre should fight if he returns: “He should fight Anderson Silva. They were supposed to fight in a super fight when they were both champions. This was the debate: who was best, when they were at their best. Let’s make it happen and see.”

Florian on if Ben Rothwell should be disappointed for not getting the Andrei Arlovski fight: “This was a fight that he wanted. He went out and called it out. He’s won his last three fights. But what this says when the UFC goes with another opponent is that his name isn’t as important as the other name, Stipe Miocic.”

UFC TONIGHT Insider Ariel Helwani on Rashad Evans next fight: “I spoke with Rashad and he’d like to fight Alexander Gustafsson next. He thinks that fight makes sense. They both lost their last fights. I spoke to Gustafsson’s management and they said they’d like that down the line, but they’d like to settle a few things first, but they didn’t say what.”

Cormier on who Evans should fight next: “As a fan of Rashad, I’d like him to fight someone else first. Maybe a guy a little further down the rankings.”

Helwani on who Tim Kennedy wants to fight next: “He’s itching to get back in the Octagon and he told me he’d like to fight the winner of Dan Henderson vs. Vitor Belfort next.”

Helwani on Bryan Caraway fighting John Lineker next: “Bryan said earlier this week that he’d like to fight John Lineker next. I spoke to John Lineker’s manager and he said they’d love that fight.”
