Current World Series Of Fighting Welterweight Champion Rousimar Palhares has been suspended two years and fined $40,000 for holding onto a key lock submission on Jake Shields much to long after Shields tapped out. Palhares suspension is retroactive to the date of the incident, which means he will be able to return to action in August of 2017. WSOF officials have not officially stripped Palhares of the welterweight title, but a future bout between Jake Shields and Jon Fitch will most likely crown a new champion, that bout is scheduled for early 2016.
