TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 37 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 3/2/2016 8:35 PM

Following a lackluster 2015 that saw the promotion cancel an event, Titan Fighting Championships is looking to start strong with their first event of 2016. The event will be headlined by a trio of title fights in the bantamweight, featherweight and flyweight divisions. Also, UFC veteran Pat Healy competes and plenty of the best MMA prospects will be stepping into the cage.

Main Event

Titan FC Bantamweight Title Decision Fight

Anderson “Berinja” Dos Santos (13-3-0) vs. Ricky Simon (7-0-0)

Dos Santos will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he has only won just one of his last three fights. Simon has already competed once under the Titan FC banner and that was a win over UFC veteran Alex Soto at Titan FC 35. Dos Santos has primarily competed in his home country of Brazil and he once had a nine fight winning streak. Simon also spent some time in the Main Event Sports promotion, where he owns three first round finishes. Simon is good at using ground and pound to get wins, but Dos Santos will eventually catch the wrestler in a submission to win the championship.

Co-Main Event

Titan FC Featherweight Title Fight

Andre “The Bull” Harrison (11-0-0) (Champion) vs. “Super” Steven Siler (28-14-0)

Harrison will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Desmond Green at Titan FC 35. Siler has already champion for this championship once before, losing to then champion Desmond Green at Titan FC 32. Harrison has already defeated one UFC vetearn while in Titan FC and that UFC veteran was Kurt Holobaugh. Siler has already won five bouts since losing that title bout, with four of those wins being first round finishes. Siler has problems with fighters who are better wrestlers than he is, that is exactly what Harrison is and Harrison grinds out a decision with his wrestling game.

Titan FC Flyweight Title Fight

Tim Elliott (12-6-1) (Champion) vs. Pedro “The Rock” Nobre (17-1-2-1NC)

Elliott will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Felipe Efrain at Titan FC 35. Nobre is currently undefeated in Titan FC, defeating both Dan O’Connor and Nick Honstein respectively. Elliott has been undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Zach Makovsky at UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Thatch. Nobre has also been undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a no contest against Iuri Alcantara at UFC On FX VII. Nobre has a brutalizing striking game and he counters the wrestling of Elliott to finish him with strikes in the second.

Titan FC Lightweight Division Fight

Muhsin Corbbrey (14-8-0) vs. Pat “Bam Bam” Healy (32-12-0-1NC)

Corbbrey will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Healy will be competing for the first time since he lost the lightweight championship to Rick Hawn at Titan FC 35. Healy has one of the most suffocating ground games in all of MMA and he holds Corbbrey down for three rounds to get the decision.

Titan FC Bantamweight Division Fight

Anthony “Shark Bait” Gutierrez (7-2-0) vs. Benny Vinson (7-3-1)

Gutierrez will be returning to Titan FC for the first time he lost to then bantamweight champion Brett Johns at Titan FC 34. Vinson will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he will be returning to action after being away for a little over a year. Gutierrez has a pretty good ground game and he catches Vinson with a late submission to get the victory.

Titan FC Lightweight Division Fight

Zak “Crash” Bucia (15-6-0) vs. Jason “Flipside” Novelli (10-1-0)

Bucia will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and that includes a pair of wins in the Titan FC promotion. Novelli is currently undefeated in Titan FC competition, having defeated EJ Brooks by decision at Titan FC 35. These are two competitors who have excellent ground games, but Bucia’s is a little better and he gets a narrow decision win.

Titan FC Lightweight Division Fight

Grant Dawson (8-0-0) vs. Robert “The Beast” Washington (19-10-0-1NC)

Dawson will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he fought an amazing six times during the 2015 calendar year. Washington is currently undefeated in Titan FC competition, having defeated Luciano Dos Santos at Titan FC 33. Washington is primarily a striker, but Dawson has an amazing ground game and he submits Washington in the first round.

Titan FC Welterweight Division Fight

EJ “The Pretty Boy” Brooks (8-5-0) vs. Ben Egli (6-0-0)

Brooks has only won just one of his last six fights, with that lone win coming over Todd Moore at Titan FC 30. Egli will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and all six of his previous wins came via first round finish. Brooks has been on a terrible slide downwards as of late, Egli submits him quickly in the first to stay undefeated.

Titan FC Featherweight Division Fight

Austin Arnett (10-2-0) vs. Dave “The Duke” Burrow (14-6-0)

Arnett will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of an eight fight winning streak. Burrow will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight as well and he once challenged for the Legacy Fighting Championships Lightweight Title. Burrow’s best bet to get the win is to get the fight to the ground, which he will do on route to a decision win.

Titan FC Featherweight Division Fight

Jorge Dominguez (0-0-0) vs. Jose Torres (0-0-0)

Dominguez will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he did win six fights as an amateur. Torres will also be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he did go undefeated as an amateur fighter. This is a hard fight to pcik because neither has appeared on the professional stage, but Torres had the better amateur run and he starts off his pro career with a win.
