DIAZ ON A MCGREGOR REMATCH: “IT’S A REAL FIGHT. PEOPLE WANT TO SEE IT.”

Tate on who she wants to fight next: “It’s not my job as a champ to pick a fight, it’s to fight whoever they put in front of me.”

LOS ANGELES – UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian and guest host Michael Bisping catch up with Nate Diaz. Plus, Miesha Tate talks about what’s next for her.

UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian on the MMA bill getting passed in New York: “Finally. It was a long time coming. The fact that there was one state that wasn’t on board with MMA and the fact that it was New York was pretty crazy. Finally, we are in New York.”

UFC TONIGHT guest host Michael Bisping who Mark Hunt should fight after his victory over Frank Mir: “I’d like to see him take on the winner of Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski. Then face the winner of Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne. If he wins that, he’s gets a shot at the gold.”

Nate Diaz on the first thing he bought after beating Conor McGregor: “Dinner. I haven’t really bought much yet. It just happened.”

Diaz on announcer Jon Anik getting a 209 tattoo after betting against him: “You open your mouth, you’re going to have to get tatted. He’s a man of his word.”

Diaz on if he thinks he’s getting recognition now: “I think I’ve always gotten the recognition with the fans. The mainstream media and UFC, it’s pouring in now. I was wondering if I was ever going to get in this studio. I guess so, I’m getting it now.”

Diaz on what he was thinking fighting Conor McGregor: “I didn’t have a training camp for the fight. I always pay attention, but didn’t have time to get ready for this. My timing wasn’t right. Nothing surprised me that he did. Every shot he threw, I saw it coming. Experience comes in to play. I’m always ready to fight five rounds with anybody. Tomorrow I’ll do five rounds. Depending on what kind of shape determines my pace.”

Diaz on a McGregor rematch: “It’s a real fight. People want to see it. When you get a real fight, people appreciate it. If he wants it and UFC wants it, let’s run it back. If not, whatever. I’m here to fight the best fighters in the world.”

Diaz on if he wants to fight McGregor for a title: “I think that title thing is a fairy tale. The best fighters in the world are getting paid the best money. The belt is a fairy tale, as far as I’m concerned. That might piss a lot of people off.”

Diaz on a second fight with McGregor: “If there’s a second fight, I’ll fight at 55. I’d like to be in shape. I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to hear no excuses. I’ll make 55. I was planning on making 55 last time.”

Diaz on what he thinks of McGregor: “He’s a fighter. He’s doing his thing. He’s making more of a scene than anyone else. If everyone was speaking up then everyone would be making more. No one wants to stand up. I’ve been speaking up for years. They’re trying to quiet me down, but I beat their guy so they’re going to hear it now.”

Miesha Tate on what’s changed since winning the belt: “My world has completely turned upside down for the better. It’s been amazing. I’ve gotten so much love and happiness. People have been following my story for a long time and they know there’s been so much adversity. It’s been a ten-year journey. People are loving with me and that feels great.”

Tate on Holm tapping out: “Holly went out on her shield like a true warrior. Nobody can take it away from her. She did everything she could to get out to that choke. She’s a beast. A warrior.”

Tate on who she’ll fight next: “What I’ve decided as a champ, I can have the mentality to fight anyone at any time. There are so many top contenders now - Ronda, Holly, Amanda, Julianna Pena, they’re all solid competition. It’s not my job as a champ to pick a fight, it’s to fight whoever they put in front of me. I’d like to stay active as a champion and not wait until November. I’d like to defend the belt and continue to prove why I’m the best in the world.”

Tate on the rivalry with Ronda Rousey: “I didn’t get into this sport to find someone to hate. Being the best in the world is my motivation. But having the rivalry has elevated both our careers to new levels.”

Florian on who Tate should fight next: “Amanda Nunes makes sense. She’s an excellent grappler and will be a great test. I don’t think Ronda will be ready. She’s busy filming. Miesha will want to stay busy.”

Bisping on Tate’s next fight: “I think she should fight Cris Cyborg. She said she’d be willing to fight her at a catch weight.”
