CAGE WARRIORS 75 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 4/12/2016 9:37 PM

For the first time in well over two years, the United Kingdom’s premier MMA promotion is back with Cage Warriors 75. The event will be headlined by a middleweight title fight as champion Jack Hermansson defends against Alan Carlos. Also, Paddy Pimblett faces Ashleigh Grimshaw and several more top MMA prospects are stepping into the cage.

Main Event

CWFC Middleweight Title Fight

Jack “The Joker” Hermansson (11-2-0) (Champion) vs. Alan “The Brazilian Viking” Carlos (12-8-0)

Hermansson will be making the second defense of his championship, he last defended it against Deyan Topalski at Cage Warriors 71. Carlos is currently undefeated in CWFC competition, having defeated Mike Ling at Cage Warriors Fight Night VI. Hermansson has won two bouts in between CWFC appearances, including a win over UFC veteran Karlos Vemola. Carlos will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he has not lost a fight in just over three years. Carlos will do his best to drag this fight to the ground, but Hermansson has an amazing striking game and he uses that to finish Carlos with strikes in the second round.

Co-Main Event

CWFC Featherweight Division Fight

Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett (9-1-0) vs. Ashleigh “Cruiser” Grimshaw (16-9-1-2NC)

Pimblett has won four of five fights under the CWFC banner, last defeating Stephen Martin by TKO at CWFC 73. Grimshaw has won two of three fights in CWFC competition and he will be returning to the promotion for the first time in five years. Pimblett will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak and he will be returning to action after being away for nearly a year. Grimshaw has seen the last eight fights he has competed in end in the first round, he has won six of those fights. This could easily be the fight of the night, but it will be Grimshaw escaping with a razor thin decision in this one.

CWFC Lightweight Division Fight

Brad “The Crazy Kid” Wheeler (15-9-0) vs. Scott Clist (7-2-0)

Wheeler will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak and he holds a win over UFC veteran Ian Entwistle. Clist will be making his CWFC debut in this fight and he will also be competing for the first time in well over a year. Wheeler has one of the best ground games in the UK right now, he grounds and submits Clist in the opening round.

CWFC Featherweight Division Fight

Chris Fishgold (12-1-1) vs. Jordan Miller (11-14-0)

Fishgold is currently undefeated in CWFC competition and he will be entering the fight on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Miller will be entering the fight on a three fight winning streak and this will be his second fight in a months’ time. Miller is nothing more than a body for Fishgold to destroy and Fishgold will by submitting him in the first round.

CWFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Darren “The Dentist” Stewart (5-0-0) vs. James Hurrell (7-4-0)

Stewart has already won two bouts under the CWFC banner, last defeating Pelu Adetola by first round TKO at CWFC 74. Hurrell will be returning to action after a year-plus layoff and he has won one of two fights in CWFC competition. Hurrell has got quite a good striking game, but Stewart nullifies it by grounding him and grinding out a decision.

CWFC Lightweight Division Fight

Alfie Davis (4-1-0) vs. Terry Doyle (3-1-0)

Davis has spent his entire professional MMA career thus far in the Ultimate Challenge MMA promotion and he enters the fight on a two fight winning streak. Doyle will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Marc Allen at Ultimate Impact MMA 14. This is a close fight to call, but Davis has a slightly better ground game and he gets the decision win in this one.

CWFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Pelu “The Nigerian Diamond” Adetola (3-3-0) vs. Gyorgy Dolog (3-4-0)

Adetola has only won just one of his last four fights and he is currently winless thus far under the CWFC banner. Dolog has also won just one of his last four fights and he has never put a winning streak together since turning pro. These are two fighters who are in need of a win in a bad way, but it will be Adetola finishing Dolog in the first with strikes.

CWFC Featherweight Division Fight

Robert Scott (0-0-0) vs. Oliver “Olly” Battell (0-1-0)

Scott will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he did go undefeated while fighting as an amateur. Battell made his professional MMA debut at Cage Warriors 52 in 2013, where he suffered a defeat to Shaj Hague. Scott had a pretty decent run during his time as an amateur and he starts off his pro career on the right foot when he submits Battell in the first.
