BROOKLYN BRAWLER MAKING FIRST POST-WWE APPEARANCE: UPW UPSTATE NEWS AND NOTES

By Todd Brantley on 5/26/2016 7:25 PM

The weather is heating up outside and that means it's time for another hot summer of action in Upstate Professional Wrestling. Fresh off an action-packed show at Anniversary Anarchy 13, UPW brings you FOUR major shows this summer. The first one being its sister promotion, Kayfabe Dojo Wrestling.

Kayfabe Dojo Wrestling presents "Crash Course" at Pineapple Jack's in Rochester, New York Saturday, June 11th with doors opening at 3:30 pm and belltime at 4:00 pm. Tickets are $12 in advance at $15 at the door the day of the show. Two big matches have been announced. First, the main event will see KDW Heavyweight Champion "The Man That Father Time Forgot" Hellcat put his title on the line against "Charisma Personified" Chris Cayden. Second, "All Passion" Ryan Cassidy, who scored the pinfall in the main event of KDW's Spring Loaded and recently became one-half of the UPW Tag Team Champions, will be put to test when he faces UPW Heavyweight Champion "The Rican Sensation" Maximo Suave.

Speaking of the champion, he'll be defending his championship at UPW's next show, Red, White, & Bruised Saturday July 9th at the Eagles Club in Rochester, New York in a triple threat match against co-#1 contender's Hellcat and UPW No Limits Champion "The Young Lion of the West" Mattick.

And all of this leads up to UPW's biggest show of the year, Headlocks & Homeruns 5 Saturday, August 6th at Premier Sports Center in Webster, New York. This show is always full of huge stars and surprises and this year will be no different. In fact, two huge names have already been signed this year's event. The first is the Man Beast, Rhino! This will mark Rhino's third appearance at H&H and the war machine will once again look to cut down his opposition in half with a GORE! The second name signed is the one and only Steve Lombardi! The man formerly known as the Brooklyn Brawler will be making his first ever independent wrestling appearance since his release from WWE. But who will he be facing and what are his motives and intentions? One thing is for sure, whoever steps in the ring to face him will have a fight on their hands. And this is the only the beginning.

And if all of THAT wasn't enough. UPW brings you the Upstate 8 (USA vs. Canada) also at the Eagles Club Saturday, September 10th. A UPW tradition, this one-night tournament will feature eight of the top independent stars representing both the United States and Canada. Two men have already qualified for the Upstate 8 with victories in their respective matches at Anniversary Anarchy 13 in "All Ego" Ethan Page and "Supercop" Dick Justice, Page will be representing Canada and Justice representing "Murica," but a second name has also been added to the Canadian side in "Hacker" Scotty O'Shea. O'Shea will be making his UPW debut, but this 13-year veteran is no stranger to the ring and will look to make a lasting first impression by winning this year's prestigious tournament. The rest of the names rounding out the Upstate 8 will be announced in the weeks and months to come.

This has been your Upstate Update. Get ready for another great summer of UPW action and we hope to see you at all of these great upcoming shows.
