BELLATOR 156 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 6/15/2016 4:17 PM

MMA fans all around the world know that when the big three MMA promotions are all putting on shows the same weekend, we will be getting some epic fights. Bellator 156 is bringing the big fights to us on Friday Night as Marcos Galvao defends the bantamweight title against Eduardo Dantas in the main event. Also, Chidi Njokuani takes on Thiago Jambo Gonclaves and former middleweight champion Brandon Halsey is in action.

Main Card

Main Event

Bellator MMA Bantamweight Title Fight

Marcos “Loro” Galvao (17-6-1) (Champion) vs. Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas (17-4-0)

Galvao will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Joe Warren at Bellator 135. Dantas has previously defeated Galvao, which came by way of submission when Dantas was the champion at Bellator 89. Galvao has been undefeated since that first loss to Dantas, but he will also be returning to action after a year-plus layoff. Dantas will also be returning to action after a year layoff, his last fight was a win over Mike Richman at Bellator 137. Galvao looked like an old man the last time he fought Dantas, the story repeats itself again as Dantas submits Galvao in the first to win the championship.

Co-Main Event

Bellator MMA Welterweight Division Fight

Thiago Jambo Goncalves (18-4-0-1NC) vs. Chidi “Chidi Bang Bang” Njokuani (17-4-0-1NC)

Goncalves will be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and he is coming off of a one fight run in the World Series Of Fighting. Njokuani is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition, having defeated Ricky Rainey at Bellator 146. Goncalves will also be returning to action after a year-plus layoff, his last bout took place in June of last year. Njokuani did hold two titles upon entering Bellator MMA as he was both the Tachi Palace Fights and Resurrection Fighting Alliance Welterweight Champion. Goncalves will want to get this fight to the ground quickly, but Njokuani has one of the best striking games in Bellator MMA, Njokuani keeps Goncalves at a distance on route to a decision win.

Bellator MMA Middleweight Division Fight

Brandon “Bull” Halsey (9-1-0) vs. John Salter (11-3-0)

Halsey will be competing for the first time since losing the middleweight championship to Rafael Carvalho at Bellator 144. Salter has only competed once in the last two-plus years, which was a win over Dustin Jacoby at Bellator 132. Salters career has been hampered by injuries in the last few years, Halsey runs through Salter with ground and pound on route to a first round finish.

Bellator MMA Welterweight Division Fight

Chris “The Cutt” Honeycutt (7-1-0-1NC) vs. Mikkel Parlo (13-2-0)

Honeycutt has only won just one of his last three fights, that lone win came over Matt Secor by decision at Bellator 153. Parlo will be returning to Bellator MMA for the first time in over two years and he did compete in a few Bellator MMA Welterweight Tournaments. Honeycutt has a great wrestling game and he uses that to neutralize the striking of Parlo on route to a decision win.
