RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE 40 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

After the biggest week in UFC history, this weekend will be UFC-free and everything kicks off with the Resurrection Fighting Alliance. RFA 40 will be headlined by a flyweight division affair as Chico Camus takes on Czar Sklavos. Also, Marvin Blumer takes on Terrion Ware and ten other top MMA prospects are in action.

Main Card

Main Event

RFA Flyweight Division Fight

“King” Chico Camus (15-7-0-1NC) vs. Czar “The Gunfighter” Sklavos (12-4-0)

Camus is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated Matt Brown at RFA 36. Sklavos is currently undefeated in RFA competition as well, having defeated Nick Burgos at RFA 27. Camus had an eight fight run in the UFC, he earned a total of three wins in the promotion. Sklavos once challenged for the Vale Tudo Japan Flyweight Title, but he lost to Hiromasa Ogikubo at VTH VI. Camus has a great wrestling game, but Sklavos has an amazing ground game and he taps Camus in the second round.

Co-Main Event

RFA Bantamweight Division Fight

Marvin Blumer (11-5-0) vs. Terrion “Flash” Ware (14-5-0)

Blumer will be looking to rebound from his first loss in RFA competition, which came to Darrick Minner at RFA 24. Ware has won two of four fights under the RFA banner and he win be returning to the promotion for the first time in nearly a year. Blumer will be returning to action for the first time in over a year and he has not earned a victory in nearly two years. Ware once challenged for the RFA Bantamweight Title, losing to Luke Sanders at the RFA/LFC Suupershow in May 2015. Blumers best shot at winning is his submission game, but Ware has incredible wrestling and he grinds out a decision.

RFA Light Heavyweight Division Fight

James Austen “Corndog” Heidlage (9-2-0) vs. Chase Waldon (9-1-0)

Heidlage will be making his RFA debut in this fight, but he does hold a win over UFC veteran Eric Schafer. Waldon will also be making his RFA debut in this fight and he does so on an eight fight winning streak. These are two fighters who are well versed in the ground game, but it will be Heidlage getting a close decision win.

RFA Featherweight Division Fight

Alex Gilpin (5-0-0) vs. Dan “The Hitman” Moret (10-2-0)

Gilpin will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Cage Fury Fighting Championships. Moret has won three of five fights under the RFA banner and he enters this fight on a three fight winning streak. Moret has a suffocating ground game and he uses that to get a decision and end the undefeated streak of Gilpin.

RFA Welterweight Division Fight

Jordon Larson (6-2-0) vs. Jonathon Thomson (4-1-0)

Larson has won two of three fights under the RFA banner and he will be returning to action after a year layoff. Thomson will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he will be doing so on a three fight winning streak. Larson is great at using his wrestling for ground and pound purposes, he does that to get a first round TKO on Thomson.

RFA Lightweight Division Fight

Benjamin Locken (5-3-0) vs. Carl Wittstock (6-1-0)

Locken is currently undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated Tye Ferguson at RFA 32. Wittstock will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Iowa Challenge promotion. Locken has a good striking game, but Wittstock has a better submission game and he gets a first round tap out.

RFA Welterweight Division Fight

Bobby Lee (3-1-0) vs. Kyle Todd (2-0-0)

Lee is currently undefeated in RFA competition, last defeating Alex Wiggs by majority decision at RFA 36. Todd will be returning to action for the first time in nearly two years, but he does have a win under the RFA banner. The long layoff will affect Todd in this one, Lee grounds him and gets a late submission finish.
