ONE CHAMPIONSHIPS 47 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 9/1/2016 9:36 PM

MMA is staying with the international flavor this weekend with both One Championships and UFC holding their events in overseas markets. One Championships 47 will be headlined by a featherweight division attraction that will see Ev Ting battle Rob Lisita. Also, Peter Davis takes on Shannon Wiratchai and plenty of top MMA prospects will be entering the cage.

Main Event

One Championships Featherweight Division Fight

Ev “ET” Ting (11-3-0) vs. Rob “Warrior Of God” Lisita (14-8-0)

Ting has won five of six fights under the One Championships banner and he will be entering this fight on a two fight winning streak. Lisita will enter this fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not earned a victory in well over two years. Ting also holds a win over UFC veteran Will Chope, that happened at a January 2012 Merciless MMA event. Lisita has earned a single victory in One Championships, which came over Yusuke Kawanago at One FC 15. Ting is primed to become a huge star in the promotion and he shines his star a little brighter when he finishes Lisita with strikes in the first.

Co-Main Event

One Championships Featherweight Division Fight

Peter Davis (10-4-0) vs. Shannon “One Shin” Wiratchai (5-1-0-1NC)

Davis has won four of his last five in One Championships competition and none of his fights in the promotion went past the second round. Wiratchai will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Kyal Linn Aung at One Championships 43. Davis will be competing for the first time in almost a full year and he has not earned a victory in well over a year. Wiratchai will be fighting twice in the same year for the first time since 2013, he went 1-1-0 during that year. Wiratchai is to inconsistent to prove a threat in this fight, Davis finishes the fighter with strikes in the first round.

One Championships Women’s Flyweight Division Fight

April Osenio (1-1-0) vs. Ann “Athena” Osman (4-2-0)

Osenio has spent her entire professional MMA career in One Championships, her lone win came over Natalie Gonzalez Hill at One Championships 41. Osman has also spent her entire professional MMA career in One Championships, her last four fights have ended within the first round. Osenio will be threatening for a short time, but Osman will submit her late in the opening round of the bout.

One Championships Middleweight Division Fight

Gilberto “Giba” Galvao (28-5-1) vs. Tatsuya Mizuno (15-11-1)

Galvao will be making his One Championships debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Mizuno has won just one of two fights in his third run with One Championships, that lone win came over Mohamed Ali at One Championships 42. Galvao is going to want to ground Mizuno for the whole fight, which he will do to grind out a decision win.

One Championships Flyweight Division Fight

Yago Bryan “Codorninha” Farias De Morais (3-1-0) vs. Gianni Subba (7-2-0)

De Morais will be competing for the first time since losing a flyweight title bout to Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke at One Championships 33. Subba has won four of his last five in One Championships competition, but he is winless thus far in 2016. De Morais got dominated in his title shot a year ago, this fight is much closer, but Subba walks away with a decision win.

One Championships Middleweight Division Fight

Trestle “Jun Minion” Tan (4-5-0-1NC) vs. Agilan “Alligator” Thani (5-0-0)

Tan will be looking to build on the momentum of his first win in One Championships, which came over Djatmiko Waluyo at One Championships 39. Thani has already earned a total of four wins in One Championships and none of his fights as a pro went to the judge’s scorecards. Tan may have pulled the upset in his last bout, but Thani dominates him with strikes for a first round finish.

One Championships Featherweight Division Fight

Keanu Subba (3-2-0) vs. Waqar Umar (4-3-0)

Subba has won two of three fights under the One Championships banner and this will be his third fight of the year. Umar has only won just one of four fights in One Championships and he has not put a win streak together in over two years. Umar is a far superior fighter when the bout is on the mat, which is where it will go when Umar submits Subba in the first.

One Championships Featherweight Division Fight

Musu Nuertiebieke (2-0-0) vs. Bruno Pucci (4-1-0)

Nuertiebieke will be making his One Championships debut in this fight and this will be the first time he has seen action in nearly two years. Pucci has won two of three fights under the One Championships banner and none of his fights have gone past the second round. These are two fighters who are well versed in the ground game, but it will be Pucci getting a close decision win.

One Championships Women’s Atomweight Division Fight

Jenny Huang (3-0-0) vs. Jeet Toshi (3-2-0)

Huang has already competed twice under the One Championships banner, last defeating Amira Badr at One Championships 38. Toshi has won just one of three fights in One Championships competition and this will be her first fight in nearly a year. The majority of this contest should be contested on the ground, which is where Huang gets the decision win.

One Championships Featherweight Division Fight

Muhammad Aiman (0-1-0) vs. Hisyam “Zephyruss” Sams (1-1-0)

Aiman will be making his One Championships debut in this fight and he is still looking for his first win as a pro. Sams will also be making his One Championships debut in this fight and this will be his first fight in just about a years time. This is a pick ‘em if there ever was one on this entire card, but it will be Sams getting his second pro win in this one.
