9/13- Legends Of Wrestling Headliner Revealed.

Just when you thought all of the wrestling guests had been revealed for the highly anticipated one of its kind in Central and Western Canada Legends Of Wrestling Convention... surprise! It's time to reveal the headliner!

Saturday, February 18th in Winnipeg, Manitoba will mark the first time in three decades a man considered one of the greatest of all time by every wrestling fan and wrestler on the planet, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat returns!

When talking accomplishments, memories, and Ricky Steamboat's legendary career where does one begin?!

Hands down one of the most unique, special, and biggest drawing performers in the history of professional wrestling "The Dragon" captivated a generation with his body of work and maybe even more impressive the inspiration he was for countless superstars that followed their dreams and became wrestlers because of Steamboat.

Many wrestling fans would be surprised to hear Ricky Steamboat began his career in the beloved AWA in 1976 after training with Verne Gagne and The Iron Shiek. After cutting his teeth in his rookie year he would relocate to Championship Wrestling From Florida where he would adopt the Ricky Steamboat name we have all come to know.

From 1977-1985 Ricky Steamboat would compete for the legendary National Wrestling Alliance sanctioned Jim Crockett Promotions. It was during this time Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair would get very familiar with each other in a feud years before their iconic battles over the NWA World Championship.

The moniker "The Dragon" was officially in 1985 upon Steamboat's arrival in the World Wrestling Federation. Steamboat would compete on the 1st ever WrestleMania defeating Matt Borne in the second match.

Wrestling is an art form that has moments that will create memories that last a lifetime and stand the test of time forever. That is exactly what happened at WrestleMania 3 in a match still remembered and talked about excitedly today between Ricky Steamboat and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. This iconic match stole the show in front of 93,000+ people outshining the highly anticipated Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant main event.

Winning the very prestigious Intercontinental Championship at WM3 was what many believed to the start of a long and historic title run for Steamboat. Unfortunately a dispute between Steamboat and WWE would lead to Steamboat surprisingly dropping the championship to The Honky Tonk Man and departing the WWF after WrestleMania 4.

1989 will go down as one of the most amazing years in professional wrestling history as it hosted three Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair matches for the NWA World Championship, all of which were given 5 star ratings by The Wrestling Observer.

After a contract dispute at the end of 1989 Steamboat would leave the NWA. After taking time off to have surgery on his foot he would return to action for NAWA territory and New Japan Pro Wrestling where many fans would be surprised to know included him wrestling the likes of The Great Muta and teaming with a young Owen Hart and Chris Benoit.

In 1991 Ricky Steamboat would return to the WWF as simply "The Dragon" it was during this time he would breathe fire during his entrance which very unique and different for the time.

Between 1991-1994 Ricky Steamboat would finish his full time wrestling career in World Championship Wrestling. In this three years time Steamboat created an incredible body work that very few are lucky to match including Tag Team Title, US, and Television title reigns.

During this time Ricky Steamboat is responsible for having amazing matches with and grooming future stars like Dustin Rhodes (Goldust), Steve Austin, Brian Pillman, Shane Douglas, and William Regal.

After a near 8 year hiatus from the industry Ricky Steamboat was influential in the growth of both TNA and Ring Of Honor in 2002 and 2004 with his involvement with the organizations lending his iconic name.

In 2005 Ricky Steamboat would return to WWE for the first time in 14 years as a road agent. in 2009 Steamboat would finally get his much deserved and long overdue admittance into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

The 2009 WWE Hall Of Fame induction came with something much more special than just the induction as the induction was used as a catalyst to set up a storyline between Chris Jericho and fellow legends Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and Jimmy Snuka culminating in a match at WrestleMania 25.

The performance of Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 25 was impressive he wrestled a return match one on one with Chris Jericho at Backlash. Ricky Steamboat currently work as an ambassador for the company.

On February 18th Central and Western Canadian fans will have a VERY RARE opportunity to shake the hand of a man who is more than likely responsible for their love of professional wrestling!
