IMMAF EXPANDS AFRICAN MEMBERSHIP AS GHANA MMA FEDERATION SIGNS UP

(London. 13 October 2016) The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has expanded its African Membership with the signing of the Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GHAMMAF).

The GHAMMAF received official endorsement from IMMAF following its public launch last week by Ghana’s National Sports Authority at the Media Center inside Accra Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation is well structured body which seeks to provide leadership in the pursuit of excellence in MMA locally and internationally, as well as ensuring recognition and strong positioning for the sport in the country. Recognised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the organisation has a broader mission of nurturing young talent across the country’s various regions and further leading them to excel in international competitions.

Speaking at the launch, GHAMMAF President Mr. Collins Kofi Zoiku iterated his commitment to protecting the sport’s interests in the country and further pledged to discharge his services to the wishes of all stakeholders.

MMA is a new sport in Ghana and is already attracting the public eye. It is believed that the support of less well-financed sports will increase medals opportunities for Ghana in international competitions.

IMMAF President Kerrith Brown commented:

“Following the success of the first IMMAF Africa Open in Johannesburg in the summer, we are happy to welcome an expansion in IMMAF’s membership on the continent with the joining of the GHAMMAF. We look forward to working with the newest member of our global family to support its development and increase opportunities for its stakeholders both nationally and world over. We also look forward to welcoming Team Ghana to future IMMAF championship events.”
