Welterweight Championship: "One Man Boy Band" Ace Perry (c) vs. "The New Age Plague" Gory
Rarely has a match-up contained such polar opposites, such extreme ends of two emotional and ideological spectrums. Ace Perry is a beacon of positivity, a shining light everywhere he's gone, and a respectable and honorable representative of the Welterweight Wrestling brand. Ace has not only turned back challenges from the likes of Gregory Iron and Jonathan Gresham, but never turns away his adoring fans, always making time to spread positive thoughts. Ace Perry's attitude and work ethic paid off at our inaugural event, as he survived a serious back injury and feared concussion in the opening round to return at the end of the night and out-last six other men in a Championship Elimination Scramble. Meanwhile, Gory is usually accompanied by a dark cloud of hate, misery, and contempt. Always brooding, always angry, always plotting his next destructive mood, Gory's mindset is always focused on evil intentions. Gory cares not for proving himself as the best athlete, a superior wrestler, or a worthy champion. His only goal is to deprive others of that which they hold most dear, to snatch the hopes and dreams from one's very hands, to leave them empty, goalless and susceptible to his wrath. Gory, too, was in the Championship Scramble at our inaugural event, advancing to the final three, but it was not Ace himself who eliminated Gory, and even we must admit Gory's elimination was controversial and contested. Will Ace Perry be able to escape the darkness and return to the light still a champion or will the inner hate of Gory blacken the welterweight world as he seizes our top prize?
Anthony Henry vs. Jason "The Gift" Kincaid
Two athletes who have been receiving more and more buzz and attention in recent months, this bout is actually a rematch from a recent EVOLVE event, which saw Kincaid victorious via his choke-out hold he calls Compassionate Release, but not before Henry brought a vicious aggressive streak that took Kincaid to his limit. That was far from the first meeting between these two, who also engaged in an under-the-radar rivalry in West Virginia some time ago, which culminated in what was likely the most amount of falls in any wrestling match in history, as Henry bested Kincaid in a sixty minute Ironman Match with a final score of 12 falls to 11. How will their history together shape how they approach this latest chapter of their saga? With their two most high-profile prior meetings being split, which man will come out of Welterweight Wrestling 2 with the unofficial rubber match victory?
7-Way Scramble #1 Contender Match: Ophidian vs. ??? vs. Frightmare vs. Ryan Kidd vs. Nate Wings vs. Lee Moriarty vs. Sonny Vice
Unquestionably, the wildest and most unpredictable battle that evening will feature seven hungry welterweights in action at the same time. At our inaugural event, it was a 7-Way Scramble that crowned the first ever Welterweight Champion. Now, we'll use the same formula to determine who will receive a Welterweight Championship opportunity currently set for Welterweight Wrestling 3!
Each athlete comes in with their own individual journey and claim to glory. Gregory Iron recently took Welterweight Champion Ace Perry to his limit in a recent title defense and would love another shot at the crown, but a recent serious injury has sidelined him and looks to have left his participation in the match doubtful at best, with a substitution yet to be announced. Nate Wings and Lee Moriarty qualified for the original 7-Way Scramble and came so close to achieving their goal, and now have a second chance. Sonny Vice was eliminated for competition without being pinned at the first ever, but has a chance to sink or swim on his own here. Ophidian, in the eyes of many, stole the show at the first Welterweight Wrestling event, in his incredibly competitive battle with Gory. Ryan Kidd was shafted in his first round outing, as Dylan Bostic (currently banned from the event) used a blatant pull of the trunks to eliminate him. Frightmare has a reputation the world over, and wants to use his Welterweight debut to add to a storied championship resume.
Elimination rules are in effect, so six falls will occur and only one man will be left standing! Who moves on to get an opportunity at the Welterweight Championship?
The Amazing Graysons w/Tony Mamaluke vs. Hysteria (Cole Radrick & Sage Philips)
Tommy & JP Grayson were the big tag team winners at Welterweight Wrestling's inaugural event, even without their mentor former ECW World Tag Team Champion Tony Mamaluke in attendance. However, while The Graysons have continued to grow their reputation throughout the northeast, one young team has been doing the same throughout the mid-west. Hysteria, a combination of the proficiency and intelligence of Sage Philips combined with the reckless nature and fearlessness of Cole Radrick, is a tag team that whether together or as individuals, have logged more miles and tested themselves further than most any athlete their age in the country. The heart and desire on Sage & Cole are evident, and entering a worldwide stage as partners in this battle of two of the fastest rising teams in the country today, has only served to up their motivation. Are they prepared for the attitude of The Amazing Graysons and the 20 years of knowledge brought to them by Tony Mamaluke or will Tommy and JP go 2-0 in Welterweight Wrestling?
Ace Austin vs. Bu Ku Dao
Another first time ever match that can only be presented to you by Welterweight Wrestling, two men who have begun to carve a reputation in two different parts of the country will meet on neutral ground. Ace Austin has become the prospect to watch, first on the east coast in numerous promotions, namely CZW, but now in the mid-west as well, as he continues to expand his reach and work tirelessly and prove himself as the ace in the hole of Welterweight Wrestling. Bu Ku Dao is one of the most recognized faces in Louisiana's Wildkat Sports and in spite of size, has delivered dynamic performance time and again and helped build that organization into a regional televised juggernaut. Will Austin have an ace up his sleeve or will Bu Ku leave him playing fifty-two pick-up?
"Cut Above The Rest" Gavin Glass vs. "Concrete Rose" Sonny Kiss
Gavin brings his three-sport athletic background and sizeable chip on his shoulder into battle, following an impressive showing in the opening round of the Welterweight Championship Tournament in our inaugural event. Gavin feels the main event slot should be his for the taking, and aims to use Welterweight Wrestling 2 to showcase that to the world. Meanwhile, Sonny Kiss is the antithesis of the villainous varsity star. The "Concrete Rose" seems to always have a smile on his face, and seems to currently possess the same level of attention and praise as Gavin used to receive in his high school sports hero days. Can Sonny's positive attitude and blossoming career propel the "Concrete Rose" past the surley and sometimes unstable attitude of Gavin Glass?
Tyler Nitro & Eye Candy Elliott vs. Shawn Phoenix & Alex Jordan
Two men united by their mutual love of the business vs. two men united by their mutual love of themselves. Tyler Nitro and Eye Candy Elliott never met a mirror they didn't love, and these two superficial superstars are coming to Welterweight Wrestling 2 to ensure all eyes are looking at them. Meanwhile, "The Firebird" and "The Notorious" teamed together for the first time at Welterweight Wrestling 1, but have been working and studying diligently together, preparing for a career opportunity! Both have proven to be death-defying and fearless, though it remains to be seen if the pyromaniac and former undefeated MMA fighter have the kinks worked out to gel together long-term. Can their grit and desire off-set the hunger for attention that their adversaries so readily crave?
Atticus Cogar w/Otis Cogar vs. Cornelius Crummels w/Sonny Defarge
It's a rivalry that has been building for many months as two polar opposites collide - one whose business is surrounded in collecting victories and championships, one whose pleasure is watching others suffer and wallow in misery. Crummels and Sonny Defarge first encountered Atticus & Otis when they came to Ohio to avenge The Cogars' assault on Crummels & Defarge's training partners & close friends Dropkick Dave & Uppercut Ulysses, an assault that left the masked duo out of commission and not seen or heard from since. Atticus & Otis carry the masks of Dave & Ulysses as symbols of their conquest, but Defarge & Crummels are determined to retrieve those sacred masks and return them where they rightfully belong. While Otis and Defarge don't presently qualify for the Welterweight weight limit, a special edict has been signed to allow them in the building ONLY during the duration of this match due to the personal stakes at hand. What will happen when one of the area's hottest tag team rivalries hit the worldwide stage?
