A women’s flyweight division attraction is coming to the May 15 UFC card according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #2 Katlyn Chookagian faces #7 Viviane Araujo.
Chookagian (15-4-0) has rotated wins and losses in her last five UFC bouts, with the latest being a unanimous decision win over Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 255. Chookagian has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Title, losing to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 247. Chookagian has competed a total of 12 times in the UFC and 10 of those encounters went the distance.
Araujo (10-2-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Montana De La Rosa and Roxanne Modafferi. Araujo hasn’t been defeated in over a year, with that last loss coming to Jessica Eye at UFC 245. Araujo has competed five times in the UFC and all of those bouts made it into the third round.
The yet to be announced UFC card takes place on Saturday, May 15 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
