A women’s bantamweight division attraction has been added to the May 8 UFC card according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #2 Holly Holm faces #5 Julianna Pena.
Holm (14-5-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, picking up wins over Irene Aldana and Raquel Pennington. Holm is a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, defeating Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 to claim the gold. Holm has challenged twice before for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Title, coming up short on both occasions.
Pena (10-4-0) has won two of her last four in the UFC, with those wins coming over Nicco Montano and Sara McMann. Pena is going to be competing for the second time in 2021, making it her most active year as a pro MMA fighter since 2015. Pena was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 18 reality show, defeating Jessica Rakoczy in the finals.
UFC Fight Night takes place on Saturday, May 8 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
