Abu Azaitar was thought to have been released from the UFC after breaking COVID-19 protocol on Fight Island during UFC 257.
However, UFC President Dana White has changed his mind and the fighter has been given a second chance, which White revealed in an interview with ESPN.
Ali Abdelaziz, who is Azaitar’s manager, also commented on White’s decision through Twitter:
Very grateful to @danawhite and humbled by this decision. There are others I want to thank. They know who they are and we appreciate them very much this was done way above my pay grade https://t.co/Nge7GL3WFO

Azaitar is expected to return to action next month against Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 260 on March 27.
