MARCELO ROJO REPLACES RAPHAEL ASSUNCAO AT UFC FIGHT NIGHT 186

Raphael Assuncao has suffered an injury and is off the UFC Fight Night 186 card, replacing him against Raoni Barcelos is Marcelo Rojo, which was announced during the UFC Fight Night 185 broadcast.

Barcelos (16-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having picked up wins over Kurt Holobaugh, Chris Gutierrez, Carlos Huachin, Said Nurmagomedov and Khalid Tafa. Barcelos hasn’t been defeated in almost seven years, with that last loss coming to Mark Dickman at RFA 14 in April of 2014. Barcelos has competed 17 times as a pro MMA fighter and six of those encounters went the distance. 

Rojo (16-6-0) is making his UFC debut in this bout and does so having won three of his last four fights. Rojo is competing for the first time in well over a year, as his last bout happened in September of 2019. Rojo has competed 16 times as a pro MMA fighter and eight of them came by KO/TKO, while another six came by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night 186 takes place on Saturday, January 27 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
