Curtis Blaydes competed in the main event of UFC Fight Night 185, suffering a second round knockout loss to Derrick Lewis.
A few days after the loss, a defeated Blaydes would take to Instagram Stories to issue the following statement (transcript via MMA Junkie):
“Sometimes you’re the hammer and sometimes you’re the nail. This game has a razor thin margin for error and I just got caught, it happens. Props to Derrick. No shame in it my head’s still held high.”
The loss knocked Blaydes from #2 to #3 in the UFC Heavyweight Rankings, while a victorious Lewis now occupies Blaydes’ #2 spot.
