By David Tees on 2/27/2023 7:59 PM

A light heavyweight division attraction, which was originally set to headline UFC Fight Night 220 until Krylov fell ill, will now happen at UFC Fight Night 221 according to Igor Lazorin as #6 Nikita Krylov faces #8 Ryan Spann.

Krylov (29-9-0) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Alexander Gustafsson and Volkan Oezdemir. Krylov hasn’t been defeated in about a year, with his last loss coming to Paul Craig at UFC Fight Night 204 in March of 2022. Krylov has competed 38 times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.

Spann (21-7-0) also enters the fight on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Ion Cutelaba and Dominick Reyes. Spann’s last five fights have ended in the opening round and it has been two-plus years since the fight got past the first round. Spann has picked up 21 wins as a professional MMA fighter and 12 of those have come by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night 221 takes place on Saturday, March 11 from The Theater At Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, Nevada with Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
