HEXAGONE MMA 8 RESULTS | GARNETT BECOMES WORLD CHAMPION

Dean Garnett is crowned featherweight world champion with his second K-O victory at Hexagone MMA

4 AUGUST 2023
ARÈNES DE BÉZIERS, FRANCE

[London. 8 August 2023] A week after packing out the Roman Theatre of Orange, HEXAGONE MMA provided another sensational show on Friday 4 August at Béziers Arena, France’s original home to bullfighting. Before more than 5000 spectators, eight professional fights delivered non-stop action, starting with the very first match of the night. Here, Adel Khaldoune broke the record for the fastest finish in HEXAGONE MMA history, inflicting a superb K-O on Georges Ngoma in less than15 seconds.

But HEXAGONE MMA 8’s main event was the world championship clash between Brit Dean Garnett and Argentinian Lucas Corbage for the featherweight belt (-66 kg). Author of an express K-O in his last fight, Dean Garnett once again showcased sharp boxing skills to win by K-O in the third, after dominating through the earlier rounds. Still in the cage, the Liverpudlian called out Frenchman Anthony Dizy to challenge him in his first title defence.

"I want to face him. He is one of the best French fighters of all time. This is the kind of top-level fight I need to move forward! " said Dean Garnett.  "Since the start of my contract with HEXAGONE MMA, I have had the goal of winning the belt, and now it's done. Lucas Corbage is a strong fighter, but I want better. »

In the run up to the main card, HEXAGONE MMA 8 gave platform to upcoming talent, such as  Shekibulah Waris and Lazaro Maza Blanco, both winners of their professional debuts, respectively against Boualem Sahraoui (submission) and Gyorgy Komuves (K-O). Former wrestler Jack Claffey, who previously competed for US wrestling leage WWE, also delivered to defeat Kevin Simon Cesari by submission in the first round.

Local fighters Mathieu Rakotondrazanany and Allan Taibi equally put on a performance to the excitement of a noisy home crowd.

Wrapping up a successful summer season, HEXAGONE MMA now looks ahead to its next outing on September 7 in Nantes for yet another action-heavy fight night, co-promoted with BRAVE CF
