Dear Ms. Carter,
Let me preface this letter by saying you seem like a very nice person. I admire the loyalty you've shown to TNA. You've stuck by it during rough times when it would've been easy to give up. Unlike Vince McMahon, who doesn't know the meaning of the word "overexposure," you've been a model of restraint and class by not having an on-camera role.
However, I must question your decision to promote a "major announcement" at this Sunday's No Surrender Pay Per View. Am I somewhat curious to see what it will be. Yes, and I know that's the idea, to make people curious about what the announcement will be. But I'm not curious enough to actually pay for the show based upon that claim made by you.
You see, the wrestling business has been full of "major announcements" or "big surprises" which have ultimately fell flat. You might remember one Eric Bischoff tried in WCW. He promised a surprise that would change the wrestling industry. It turned out to be an ill-fated heel run by Bill Goldberg.
How do I know it won't be the same thing?
Because I don't have a lot of faith in your company.
And it's not that I don't like wrestlers such as Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, and Samoa Joe. I do. But I don't see you as being much different from WCW. WCW had Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, and Rey Mysterio, but kept its focus on guys like Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, and Randy Savage. You have the aforementioned wrestlers plus other young stars such as Jay Lethal and Eric Young, yet the focus remains on guys like Jeff Jarrett and Sting.
How much faith can I have that your company wants to be "an alternative" when the supposedly "revolutionary" X-Division is watching Jackass for inspiration? So Ms. Carter, I won't be ordering the PPV. Not because I don't believe you won't have any good wrestling matches I'm sure you will. But having two good matches isn't enough for me to order any WWE events.
And like with WWE, you've simply got too much bad going on to justify me spending the money.
Sincerely,
Dave Whitaker
