Ok, I know that this is the first column I have written in a few weeks and months but I have truly couldn't make an entire opinion up. Until, now. Now I have thought of something to say. That is that John Cena has no business as champion.
I am not getting into John Cena having a few moves that he does in the same succession. I am actually giving him props for doing the spots on the TLC match but there are a few problems with him going over.
Problem #1: The feud between Edge & Cena is over, so why are they facing each other again?
Edge and John Cena has been done at for the entire year and now it should be over. Edge and John Cena need to go on to other feuds, but who can they face? Carlito is not ready for the main event, Orton will NEVER be a main eventer due to his attitude problems, Jeff Hardy while he has been solid from his return, he is not ready to step up. So unfortunately there is no one else and now this feud will get overkilled.
Problem #2: The chase.
John Cena is not a worthy long-term champion at this point. As champion the fans will boo him no matter what because he is getting stuffed down the throats of the fans who boo him. He needs to lose the title at or before Survivor Series because he cannot hold it for more than 3 months before he gets stale. Cena is better at chasing for the title and he has more fire as the challenger than he does as the champion.
Problem #3: The fans still boo Cena.
John Cena at Unforgiven and RAW got the WORST reaction he has ever got. It was even worse than the ECW One Night Stand reaction to Cena. If Cena is the face, then why do the fans boo him? Why not just turn Cena and make Edge face? Cena is not over as a face at all and Edge has been a very marketable face back in the day.
Problem #4: The Marine.
No matter what people will think, this was done to promote upcoming release of The Marine. If this is the case, why didn't Kane win the title instead of having Freakin' Deacon debut as the Fake Kane? I mean it would have been a better storyline to have Kane go after Cena and then either win it just to lose to RVD at One Night Stand or lose to Cena in the title shot than have the "May 19th" storyline.
Problem #5: Hogan wrestles better.
No one ever accused Hulk Hogan as a great wrestler but there is a difference between him and Cena. Hulk Hogan can pull a good match out of the Ultimate Warrior. Those two guys were never known for work-rate and their classic from WrestleMania VI was known for being a good match. Hogan could have good matches with wrestlers who can't wrestle while Cena needs a guy like Angle, Benoit, Lesnar or Edge to have a good match.
As you can see Cena as champion at this point has more bads than good. The fans still boo him because he has nothing to prove. Cena won back his title and there is only one challenger whom is ready to face him at this point and that is the man he beat for the title.
