DANA WHITE WANTS TO SEE CELEBRITIES COMPETE IN UFC BJJ

By David Tees on 6/26/2025 8:37 AM

The first ever UFC BJJ event is in the books and some of the best BJJ practitioners in the world competed at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

No celebrities competed at this first UFC BJJ card, but if UFC COO Dana White has his way, celebrities could find themselves fighting on future cards.

“Let me tell you something, there’s a lot of other people out there, too,” White said to TMZ Sports (transcript via Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting). “There’s actors and athletes. You’d be surprised. Zuckerberg has competed in tournaments. Mario Lopez competes in tournaments. Tom Hardy competes in tournaments. This is a spot, anybody could come and compete here in jiu-jitsu.”

People from outside of the MMA world haven’t had much luck when competing in the UFC, but that could be a different story when competing in UFC BJJ.

White says there are a lot of actors that are proficient in BJJ and the world doesn’t know much about it.

“Yeah, we talk a lot about fighting, obviously,” White said. “If Mark keeps training and competing, he could literally come here and fight in UFC BJJ. 100 percent. Tom Hardy, Mario Lopez, and many, many other actors that are really good jiu-jitsu guys that nobody knows about.”
