WBC BOXING CHAMPION AND UNBEATEN MMA FIGHTER KENIA “MEXICAN QUEEN” ENRIQUEZ
SIGNS EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT WITH COMBATE GLOBAL

The three-time world boxing champion is slated for a return to COMBATE GLOBAL MMA action on Thursday, July 17;
Aims to become the first fighter in history to simultaneously

hold major world titles in boxing and MMA

Enriquez’s COMBATE GLOBAL signing comes amidst her
inability to secure WBC absolute world championship fight
despite her status as interim champion and number one contender

NEW YORK – July 1, 2025 – COMBATE GLOBAL today announced that it has signed World Boxing Council (WBC) Interim World Flyweight (112 pounds) Champion, Kenia “Mexican Queen” Enriquez (1-0 MMA; 28-1, 11 KO’s) to an exclusive, multi-fight promotional agreement.

The 31-year-old Enriquez, who hails from Tijuana, B.C., Mexico is slated to return to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) action at a COMBATE GLOBAL live television event in Miami, Fla. on Thursday, July 17, and will square off with Hannah Brobyskov (0-1) of Seattle, Wash.

COMBATE GLOBAL’s signing comes amid ongoing tension between Enriquez and WBC chairman Mauricio Sulaiman, who has yet to award the decorated champion the opportunity to challenge for the governing body’s absolute world championship despite her standing as interim world champion and number one contender in the WBC women’s flyweight division.

Still, Enriquez aims to become the first fighter in history to simultaneously hold both a major boxing world championship and a major MMA world title.

“We welcome Kenia Enriquez, an incredible athlete, to COMBATE GLOBAL, and condemn the disrespect the WBC has shown her,” said COMBATE GLOBAL CEO Campbell McLaren.

“We will elevate her COMBATE career the same way we plucked Amanda Serrano from boxing obscurity, raising her profile significantly to get Jake Paul’s attention,” McLaren continued.

Enriquez officially entered the world of MMA on March 13, debuting against a previously undefeated Hayley “Bloody” Valentine of England at COMBATE GLOBAL’s ‘Combate Female’ all women’s event in Miami.

The Mexican boxing champion asserted herself from the outset of the fight, putting her punches to work and dropping Valentine twice in the first round with a straight right hand and a left hook, respectively.

In the third round, though, Valentine, who holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, finally secured a takedown, forcing Enriquez, for the first time, to defend herself on mat.

Enriquez fended off multiple submission attempts by Valentine before the final bell sounded and Enriquez was awarded a unanimous decision.

Enriquez became the WBC interim flyweight champion with a unanimous decision victory over Ibeth Zamora Silva on September 10, 2023.

She defended the title in her last boxing bout on February 3, 2024, defeating Maria Salinas by unanimous decision.

Since that victory, however, she has been in limbo, waiting over a year for a crack at reigning WBC flyweight world champion Gabriela Fundora’s coveted title.

In 2014, Enriquez became the World Boxing Organization (WBO) world flyweight champion, and, in 2017, Enriquez was crowned WBC interim world light flyweight (108 pounds) champion.

The last time COMBATE GLOBAL successfully ushered a professional boxing champion into MMA was in 2018 when it introduced Serrano to the sport.

After two COMBATE GLOBAL bouts that raised her visibility in the fight world substantially, Serrano went on to become the highest paid female boxer in history.

The remainder of the COMBATE GLOBAL fight card for July 17 will be announced soon.
