UFC Flyweight Champion Joshua Van is eager to make the first defense of the championship he won by defeating Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 323.
Manel Kape seemed like the ideal first challenger, but Van says Kape turned down the opportunity to fight for flyweight gold.
"Is he (Kape) really? Because last time I checked, I don't know who said no," Van told MMA Junkie Radio. "Ask him. He would know. Last time I checked, the champ said yes, and the challenger said no."
Kape has yet to state anything publicly about whether or not he turned down a shot at the UFC Flyweight Title.
Van also says that Kape has to go find his balls before challenging him for the flyweight strap.
"One guy is running," Van said. "I hope one day, for sure, when he finds his balls and wanting to fight, maybe one day we could fight," Van said. "But as of right now, I guess not."
