Alexis Falcon makes history at PROGRESS Chapter 189: In Darkest Night
A new name now adorns the PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s Championship belt after Alexxis Falcon ended Rayne Leverkusen’s recent dominance at Chapter 189: In Darkest Night, claiming a record-breaking victory on Sunday.
In front of an energetic crowd in the capital, the first show of the year did not disappoint, delivering plenty of shocks and surprises along the way.
Under the iconic lights of Camden’s Electric Ballroom, 2026 began in pulsating fashion as Leverkusen fell to Falcon in an epic back-and-forth battle, with Falcon capturing her first ever Women’s Championship.
Falcon has now become the first wrestler to win both the Women’s and Tag Team Championships, heralding a new chapter in PROGRESS history.
The night opened with a men’s first-round Super Strong Style 16 bout, as Jay Joshua, accompanied by Connor Mills and Nico Angelo, overcame Lykos II after Kid Lykos threw in the towel to save his partner. Joshua now books his place in the second round of the tournament.
Shortly after, it was confirmed that Simon Miller will face Josh Holly in a first-round Super Strong Style 16 match at Chapter 190: In Brightest Day, returning to the Electric Ballroom on Sunday 15 February.
In the women’s division, more Super Strong Style 16 drama unfolded as two first-round matches took place. To the delight of the PROGRESS crowd, The Experience reunited to a huge ovation, with LA Taylor and Sky Smitson both in singles action.
Smitson advanced after defeating Anita Vaughan, while LA Taylor faced Session Moth Martina, who replaced Safire Reed after she was not medically cleared to compete.
Martina made an immediate impact, gatecrashing the ring to take Reed’s place in a contest. In classic Moth fashion, she caused controversy by attempting to cheat, only for Gene Munny to intervene, allowing Taylor to claim victory and move into the next round.
Gold was then on the line as the PROGRESS ATLAS Championship was defended. Saxon Huxley, who captured the belt from Will Kroos at NOAH The New Year in Japan on New Year’s Day, put his title on the line against former WWE star Axel Tischer.
Huxley was not to be beaten in his first defence, emerging victorious after a brutal battle to retain the ATLAS title.
As expected, it was an afternoon filled with drama, twists, and turns. Cara Noir was initially a no-show for his Men’s Championship match against Man Like Dereiss – or so everyone thought. Noir eventually appeared, sparking a chaotic brawl that ended in a disqualification when Lykos Gym intervened as Dereiss retained.
The tension did not stop there. Kid Lykos grabbed the belt and paraded it around the ring, leading to a clash with Dereiss which saw Kid Lykos II caught in the middle and struck by accident. The animosity continues to build.
Following the interval, Nico Angelo and Connor Mills successfully retained their PROGRESS Tag Team Championships by defeating Gene Munny and Kouga to remain on top of the division.
Meanwhile, Spike Trivet renewed his rivalry against Big Damo. The Irishman came out on top, making good on his promise of revenge against The Vulture. After the match, Spike was reacquainted with an old ally in the form of Bullit – and let’s just say, it was not a friendly reunion.
The final match of the afternoon delivered another defining moment in PROGRESS history. Alexxis Falcon, a PROGRESS stalwart since her debut in August 2017, realised a lifelong dream by defeating Rayne Leverkusen to win the Women’s World Championship for the first time, ending Rayne’s reign at the top of the division.
