This weekend’s UFC Fight Night Mexico City card has taken a hit because Marcel Dorff is reporting that Sofia Montenegro is out of her fight against Ernesta Kareckaite, stepping in on short notice is Regina Tarin.
Kareckaite (6-1-1) has won just one of two under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Nicolle Caliari at UFC Fight Night 249. Kareckaite competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, defeating Carli Judice by split decision. Kareckaite has earned six wins as a professional MMA fighter and four of them have come by way of decision.
Tarin (7-0-0) will be making her UFC debut in this encounter and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over two years. Tarin is a former Budo Sento Championship Women’s Flyweight Champion, defeating Luisa Fernanda Cifuentes at BCS 25 to claim the gold. Tarin has competed seven times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Mexico City takes place on Saturday, February 28 from the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico with Brandon Moreno and Lone’er Kavanagh headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on Paramount+.
