AMATEUR MMA FIGHTER KILLED IN AUSTIN BAR SHOOTING

By David Tees on 3/3/2026 4:17 PM

Tragedy struck the people of Austin, Texas and the world on Sunday, March 1 when a shooter entered an Austin bar and killed three people. One of the people killed was a six-fight amateur MMA fighter named Jorge Pederson , who was just 30 years old.

Ignite MMA promoter Jeremy Bjornberg posted the following on Instagram about the late fighter:

It is with the heaviest heart I write this. Jorge Pederson was a lively, funny and charismatic Fighter with a bright future. He called me some very loving names, and we had a week ago worked out his Professional Debut May 16 for Ignite Fights. He had also asked me to help guide him in the professional ranks, which was a great feeling. He was a 3-time IGNITE Fights vet and someone who always came to put on a show.
He sadly was innocently gunned down in the mass shooting in Austin, Texas. The political strife and senseless violence we have in this world right now is hard to wake up to everyday and now it’s affected me and many of my friends and loved ones much more directly. We all will never get to laugh at his mischievous ways or enjoy his company and conversations. One of the best memories I have of him is around Christmas I didn’t respond to him for a few days, and he sent me 25 Cents on Venmo to get my “attention” as a gift. He really was one of a kind and will be missed by me and the whole IGNITE Family.
I hope when people wake up ready to spend their energy and days anger filled with social media posts or even worse, actual violence, they try to remember what it can lead to, when there’s zero positivity and so many prefer to draw a line on one side of political party and mercilessly attack the other side. You aren’t doing the “good” most likely you think you are and it’s why I stay away from it. It’s not worth losing friends or family.

Jorge Pederson RIP, gone way to soon and in our thoughts forever ☹

Please help their family in this time of need so his family can help give him the service and send off he deserves

Pederson held a 4-2-0 record as an amateur fighter, with those wins coming over Austin Amiot, Gatdoar Kueth, Dominic Yates, and Diego Huerta. Pederson last competed at a December 2025 Supermacy Fighting Championship event, suffering a split decision loss to Taitimu Murray.

PWInsiderXtra would like to extend our condolences to the family, friends, and aquiantances of Jorge Pederson.
