Shocking events unfold at Chapter 192: Cause and Effect
PROGRESS Wrestling’s reigning World Champions, Man Like Dereiss and Alexxis Falcon, stood tall at Chapter 192: Cause and Effect, each successfully defending their titles in an afternoon packed with shock, drama, and unforgettable moments, leaving fans buzzing with one burning question: what happens next?
Four championships were on the line in the capital, setting the tone for a blockbuster afternoon of professional wrestling at the Electric Ballroom, brought to you by WrestleVerse.
Dereiss and Falcon kept hold of their belts after beating Kid Lykos and former WWE and AEW star Mercedes Martinez respectively.
Meanwhile, Gene Munny was also victorious after retaining his PROGRESS ATLAS Championship crown and Young Guns became the new Tag Team champions after defeating Diamond Eyes.
In the pre-match show, Kid Lykos 2 saw off the challenge of Kouga, accompanied by Gene Munny, in an intriguing clash which whet the appetite of the Ballroom crowd.
Opening Chapter 192, Spike Trivet faced off against Charlie Sterling in a men’s singles contest which The Sovereign Lord would go onto win in an explosive clash of former Dominatus Regnum team-mates.
Next up, attention turned to a Women’s Super Strong Style 16 first-round match, as Emersyn Jayne and Hollie Barlow, accompanied by Lana Austin, met in the ring. Up for grabs, the final spot for a place in the next stage of SSS16.
Emersyn would go onto triumph over Barlow in a compelling fight, coming out on top to reach the next round of the history-making competition in May. Tickets are still on sale for Super Strong Style 16 and you can purchase now by CLICKING HERE.
Current ATLAS Champion Munny was next under the spotlight with Nathan Black the man standing in his way.
Having seen off competition from Saxon Huxley last time he defended the belt, Munny, accompanied by Session Moth Martina, battled to a win and cemented his position as the man to beat.
However, prior to the match, Session Moth thought that Black might be her son in a unexpected twist to proceedings.
As the interval approached, there was still time for one more match of the first half of the show, with Charles Crowley, who has enjoyed winning form at PROGRESS recently in both singles and tag team matches taking on Cara Noir, with Crowley emerging as the winner of an exciting scrap as he marched on.
Following on from the interval, the PROGRESS Tag Team Championship took centre stage under the bright lights of the Ballroom.
New champions of the division were crowned. Manchester lads, Young Guns (Ethan Allen and Luke Jacobs) continued their upward trajectory to the top of the division by claiming the biggest prize on offer to the delight of the crowd.
In the penultimate contest of Chapter 192, Falcon pitted her wits against former WWE and AEW star, the returning Martinez, in a match-up for the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship.
It proved to be another unmissable PROGRESS moment, as Falcon, who stopped Rayne Leverkusen in her tracks at Chapter 189: In Darkest Night, which set her off on her own title journey, got the better of Martinez to taste championship victory once again.
Finally, the PROGRESS crowd were treated to a grudge match, tipping the current Men’s World Champion against the former Men's World Champion.
Dereiss overcame Kid Lykos in a pulsating showdown between two competitors who have significant history against each other. Dereiss was able to defeat his rival to continue to reign at the summit of the PROGRESS Men’s division.
In a dramatic ending, Kid Lykos 2 stopped Lykos from using a hammer to cheat to win the Championship, with the pair now looking like best friends once again even though it was obvious how much the title meant to Kid Lykos.
Afterwards, the drama didn’t stop as Cara Noir, armed with a sledgehammer, came to the ring and destroyed the custom men’s PROGRESS World Championship that showed the lyrical dragon off.
Noir took great pleasure knowing that the belt that meant so much to Dereiss has now been demolished beyond repair.
With such a rivalry bubbling over and whether it will be for the title or not, given that Dereiss is set to take on Michael Oku for the title in Las Vegas in April, as part of WrestleMania week with the Collective, it is likely Noir and Dereiss will leave nothing left on the table as they go to war over the things that mean the most to them.
