Santana Garrett talks friendship with Chelsea Green and Title Match With Penelope Pink This Week; Shouts Out Trish Stratus, Lita, and Stone Cold! Plus, David McLane reveals current WWE Champion was signed to WOW!
Fresh off her Fatal Four Way #1 Contender Elimination Match win, Santana Garrett appeared on the Official WOW Podcast to promote her WOW World Championship Title match against the current champion, Penelope Pink.
Santana Garrett on challenging Penelope Pink for the title: “Penelope is the champion for a reason…so I know it’s not going to be easy. I’m bringing my A game. I’ve done it once and I believe in my heart I can do it again.”
Garrett reminisced with host Nigel Zane and WOW Co-Owner David McLane about her favorite WOW memories and how her wrestling career has been a constant tribute to her father.
Zane also chatted with Garrett about the sinister, and constant, interference from Samantha Smart’s faction of evil geniuses: The Enlightened. In the Fatal Four Way, Smart led her faction out to the ring mid-match to slide Classmaster’s black book to Garrett’s competitor, Paola Mayfield. Garrett was able to hit Mayfield with a superkick at just the right moment, sending the black book in Mayfield’s hands straight into Mayfield’s forehead, knocking her out of action.
Santana Garrett on The Enlightened: “I’m on guard. Obviously they’re always up to something, and usually it doesn't work out in my favor, but recently it has…I’m still trying to figure them out.”
The topic shifted to Santana Garrett’s off camera best friend, and interim WWE Women’s Champion, Chelsea Green! The pair have paid their dues and now get their moment to shine.
Santana Garrett on Chelsea Green: “It’s funny because I Facetimed with her the day after she won her championship, and I’ve got a picture of her holding her championship and my reaction…so how cool is gonna be if, and when I should say, I can call her with my WOW World Championship and we take another picture!”
McLane jumped in to drop an exclusive scoop that Chelsea Green actually signed with WOW back in the mid 2010s, but got picked up by WWE before she could ever debut on the purple mat. McLane gushed that Green is a very kind and considerate person, noting that not many wrestlers in the industry would take the time to check in before accepting a life changing opportunity like joining the WWE roster.
David McLane on Chelsea Green: “This is an exclusive…Chelsea Green signed with WOW! She was fortunate enough to get a phone call from WWE to go there..she called me and said ‘Would you mind if I go to WWE, I have to get permission because of the agreement,’ I said no problem and ripped the agreement up, and said go be a superstar. And look what she’s done! ”

Santana Garrett on her childhood dreams: “When I was little, I’d picture myself on that top turnbuckle with the championship in my hand and it felt like it was so far from something that could happen, but at the same time I was willing to give up everything to try. ”
Santana Garrett on crowd energy: “I rely on that energy from the crowd.. There’s not a better feeling than hearing the crowd get behind you and want you to win, want you to succeed.”
