SOME LOVED IT, BUT SOME AREN'T IMPRESSED - FIRST BATCH OF READER FEEDBACK TO TNA BOUND FOR GLORY

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 10/23/2006 12:58 AM
TNA presented its first 3 hour PPV outside of Orlando. In a jam packed Detroit crowd. This was in my opinion the best Pay Per View of this year. It delivered from top to bottom. Not a dull moment. I suggest anybody who didn't see, to go out and order the Replay as it is 30 bucks well spent.

The pregame got the crowd ready for the show. Roode is not a good promo, and even though Tracy is super hot, I think Roode would have been better off getting someone who could talk for him. The match itself was decent. Seeing the midget, I thought bad news for the gauntlet, but I was proven wrong. TNA has really gone straight to the Angle/Joe match.

The intro video was great and I liked the stage setup for the show. The X-division gauntlet was good. I wouldn't mind Nash being a commentator, as he is hilarious on the mic. Only Austin could play that character and I like how Shelly was jealous of Nash showing Star more attention.

AMW/LAX should be a gold feud. Harris showed allot of intensity in his promo. The 4 way was another good bout.

What is wrong with Runt and Ravens new look. The match was sick. I think JOE winning was good because it allows him to leave the feud and let the other 3 continue it.

Eric and J.B are funny together. His match with Larry was what it was.

Its early but the build for JOE and Angle has been great.

Senshi and Sabin delivered in a non jackass match. I was surprised with Sabin winning.

Christian delivered the best promo in his career. Cage/Rhyno was a real and intense street fight.

LAX vs. Daniels and Styles was the best match of the night and I hate to think that this might be the end of the feud because every single one of their matches have been 5 stars.

Sting's new look was decent and the match was ok. They ended the show great.

Three title changes, and the continuation of Angle/Joe. I really hope that they save Angle , Joe for 2007 and give it the proper build. After this show I could probably say forget WWE, TNA is the future and im hoping for a great future for the company as I hope to work for them in the future

I just spent 30 bucks to watch TNA's version of Monday Night Raw. What was worse was that Cornette had no voice to cut a promo on Russo. I give Jeff, Dixie and Vince Russo 6 months, or 37 more months of Bob Carter write offs before they put this s*** to rest. Has Panda Energy stock split once in the last 5 years or is Mr. McMahon going to power walk down to the next investors conference call? Thank you p****, you had 1000 TNA fans and 3000 people who wanted to see Shaggy Two Dope cut a Kevin Federline promo. I am glad Jeff Jarrett thinks I want to see his s*** ass swing a geetar because his father was more over visiting Titan Tower 8 months ago. This is great, we see a fat Jake Roberts stand taller than anyone ever in a TNA ring, Kevin Nash holding a bowling trophy and no sign of Traci's fun bags because Vince Russo is a born again. Check Please.

Wow.

This was the first TNA PPV I have ever purchased, and I wasn't let down - a delightful surprise. A re-birth of sorts for TNA. What a difference a change of venue, longer match times, and a live and vocal crowd can make. This PPV had all the makings of a great show.

-A hot crowd that was into the show all night long.

-Fantastic matches that made you sit at the edge of your seat, yell at the TV, and cringe at some of the spots.

-The escalation of storylines that actually mean something. Namely, the Angle/Joe brawl was GREAT, the LAX/Daniels-Styles match was REMARKABLE, and the Sting/Jarrett match had an AWESOME finish.

The build of Angle and Samoa Joe have me looking forward to more TNA. Sting's no-sell to the Jarrett guitar shot, then as I can only call it "Stinging Up" was great to see on TV. Kudos to TNA for giving us a cool pay-per-view. I can only hope they build off of this and turn things around!

OK, the pre-show had a shaky beginning few minutes, but then again, TNA has never aired a show from Detroit before, so it’s all right. As long as the crowd is hot and Christy Hemme is hot it’s all right with me!

Good idea to have Joe sitting in the parking lot stone silent waiting for Angle to show up. That’s what the Samoa Joe character is all about.

So, Robert Roode (good luck getting over with THAT name) chooses, over Heenan, Martel, and Parker, Traci Brooks? Wasn’t that anticlimactic? That pre-show match wasn’t much. It’s as if Roode will be the Sylvester Terkay to Traci’s Elijah Burke (as in big man with more over associate).

Well, at least that midget provided a camera shot that gave me a good look at Christy’s entire dress. And he says Chriisty looks taller on TV? He can be right, since I got to meet her about a year ago, and I was definitely taller! He’s there for Nash’s crap. I have a bad feeling about this…

One more hard sell from Don West, Angle’s arrival and Joe’s rage boil and we’re set to go! I liked the Fozzy video, too. Jericho in TNA, wouldn’t that be lovely?

The Nash invitational at first was comedy at best. Not the best way to open a PPV. We had Jackass lovers, a one-legged-one-hit-wonder, the greenest female wrestler not in WWE, and Canadian has-beens. The action got serious when Williams entered, and Nash favoring Austin Starr over Shelley should be interesting. Speaking of Starr, he’s from TV Land? Isn’t that a cable channel that shows old sitcoms?

So AMW are supposedly faces again? So much for the potential breakup.

It started getting good with the four-way tag match, Although I could have done without BG James’ old warmup promo. And why did Brother Ray call for the tables when whey were not used? And I guess the Naturals won’t be getting a tag title shot anytime soon.

Monster’s Ball was when the real action started! I popped for several moves, including Joe going through tables, Abyss falling onto Runt through the platform, and Abyss going FACE FIRST (!) into the tacks. And of course, Joe won, which was the right thing to do. And of course, what Jake Roberts segment wouldn’t be complete without Damien? Poor Raven.

Young vs. Larry Z was obviously a “cool down” match. Not much to talk about here.

That in-ring confrontation with Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe was just plain wrestling promo bliss! Word to TNA, take your time building up the eventual Angle vs. Joe match. Don’t let it come too fast!

Wow. I was just floored by the X division title match, it was the second match tonight that got a “this is awesome” chant, and it was well deserved! I liked the spots, and popped for the “finish out of nowhere,” which I usually don’t pop for in WWE.

Loved Christian’s pre-match promo! As for the 8 Mile street fight, I loved it as well! The spots onto the table were very well done, and the finish was totally unexpected! I didn’t believe that Christian could KO Rhino with chair shots through plunder, but he did! I wouldn’t mind seeing this feud continue.

Oh my God. That Styles/Daniels vs. LAX six sides of steel match will go down in TNA history. That’s definitely a match of the year candidate for TNA in my book! Even though I had a huge hunch that Styles would do an off-the-top-of-the-cage move, I was just floored by how well it was executed. This has already been TNA’s event of the year, and the main event is yet to come!

While not as spectacular as the match before it, the main event did indeed deliver. The best part came when Angle decided that he himself would be the referee, and it was great seeing that he’s be unbiased, even with Jarrett mocking him with the ankle lock. While I’m still up in the air about Sting being champion, it was a great way to cap off a great show. However, there was one missed opportunity at the end. Why didn’t Joe come out to once again stare Angle down? Just a thought.

TNA Bound for Glory 2006 was, for the most part, awesome. Easily the best wrestling PPV event ECW One Night Stand! With a great show and prime time in the near future, I don’t think TNA has anywhere to go other than up!

Congratulations, TNA, on a job well done!
