FANS WHO DIDN'T ORDER THE PPV MISSED NOTHING - FIRST BATCH OF READER FEEDBACK TO WWE CYBER SUNDAY

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 11/6/2006 12:42 AM
I have to admit, I do like the giant computer stage set for this PPV. It was also nice to have Maria to look at for the results bit but listening to Todd Grisham was easier on the ear. I know she was meant to be enthusiastic but screaming her head off is a little much…

The most amusing thing was the claims about the near 15 million votes which may be true but they obviously neglected to mention that this was due to multiple voting allowed and not from 15 million people voting…

Umaga vs Kane – Stupid fans, I wanted Benoit!! Then again, I would have hated it if he had to job to Umaga. Actually this wasn’t a bad big man brawl and Umaga showed me a lot more in this match than he has before. Even Kane seemed motivated.

Four Way Tag Match – The fact that all four teams were brought out first pretty much gave away it would not be a Turmoil match. A bit short but okay for what it was. The result was never really in doubt was it? I like how Vince reckons Cryme Tyme isn’t a racial stereotype yet has them stealing stuff on TV…

I guess DX want Eric Bischoff as their referee. So much for the fans making their own choices…

Jeff Hardy vs Carlito – It has to be said that Hardy has made one hell of a comeback in-ring wise, when you consider he was a zombie during his TNA run. I swear I heard the fans chant “boring“ during the “slower” moments in the match but this was pretty much well paced most of the way. Good stuff from both men.

DX vs Edge & Randy Orton – How come this match didn’t have the three contenders shown backstage together? Because they knew thy had done enough to get the fans to vote their way – i.e Bischoff? Typical that to ensure maximum air time for HHH, this match gets a recap video package then they get to milk their entrance for 10 minutes. Good old school tag match with a typically current ref bump screw job finish. I guess it would be too much for HHH to do the clean job and make Orton and Edge seem like a viable threat and real contenders and not just heels with a fluke cheat assisted win, especially after kicking out of the RKO.

Another frickin’ Marine feature?

Mickie James vs Lita – Another stipulation that was given away by having the Divas coming out first. Match was sloppy as hell and the only people into it were the divas at ringside. Further proof that Vince shouldn’t have put all of his eggs into that one basket named Trish Stratus.

Is it me or does Ken Doane look like a tall thin Owen Hart?

Ric Flair & Roddy Piper vs Spirit Squad – Well I wanted Dusty purely for the spectacle of seeing him and Flair on the same team for once but I knew it would be the Hot Rod. Shame he didn’t keep his shirt on. How badly has he let himself go? Match was…well, what it was. A bit of fun, nice pop for the win and post match brawl. I’m still wondering if it is okay to have to near 60 year olds holding the tag belts even if it is Flair and Piper and for a short time pop.

Ron Simmons said it all about that skit with Booker and Cena – Damn!

John Cena vs Big Show vs King Booker – Another match where the voting result telegraphs the match result. It’s a shame that Show is hurting so badly because they could have done some decent three way spots in this match rather than the old “one stays down while the other two fight” formula. K-fed was a bit of a surprise. So, how come Cena can no sell K-Fed's belt shot yet be KO’d by Booker’s belt shot? I just hope that this doesn’t mean that we’ll have a K-Fed match in WWE…

Bottom Line: Well, it was a fun if unspectacular show overall but with a lot of the options forced upon the fans the results weren’t that much of a surprise, and thus made it just another PPV, rather than something unique. But this is WWE so what else would you expect?

My Score – 5.5/10

Umaga vs.... Kane?? I find it hard to believe that almost 1/2 the voters wanted to see this match. Again. This is a bathroom break/snack bar match if there ever was one. And the result?? Kane loses again. Duh. At least Benoit would've stood a chance of forcing Umaga to tap out to the Crossface. But then that would end the beloved unbeaten streak that no one cares about. It might mean a little more if he wasn't facing Eugene or Hacksaw Duggan.

The tag team match. Participants?? Don't care. Who won?? Cryme Tyme. Don't care.

IC title defense. I actually guessed the opponent on this one. Where I was wrong is in my thinking that maybe Torrie would interfere somehow and Carlito would win the belt. Oh well. Jeff Hardy is still the champ.

DX vs Orton/Edge. I think most people figured Bischoff would get the nod. What I'm wondering is how Bischoff thought that tonight's match would be so controversial?? He was a heel referee who stood there and watched HHH take a chair shot. That's not controversy. In WWE, that's a Monday. Oh yeah. Bad guys won.

Lita vs Mickie James - lumberjack match. Lita won which really surprised me. The rumors are that she's leaving at least for awhile around Survivor Series. But maybe not. Her win also annoyed me because this means that Trish's win was meaningless. A going away present from McMahon. If that match hadn't been in Canada, or her "final" match, she wouldn't have won. So we had to sit through 1 1/2 months of a tournament that put the belt right back where it was in September.

Spirit Squad vs Flair and Piper. Okay this was cool. FINALLY the tag belts get taken off those 5 idiots. I'm sure each member of the Squad prays to the heavens that the Spirit Squad will not be the highlight of their wrestling careers. I don't think Flair & Piper will hold the belts for too long. My prediction is a 5 team match at Survivor Series that probably Cryme Tyme will win.

Cena/Big Show/Booker T - Booker's belt gets put on the line?? So much for all those SUBTLE hints the last 3 weeks that only Cena's belt is worth a damn. Apparently 2/3 of the viewing public find Booker really really annoying and want him to lose his belt. Hello?? Batista?? I knew no belt would change hands, but what the f**k is Kevin Federline doing in WWE again?? Are they going to set him up for a match w/Cena?? Can Cena kill him?? Pretty please?? And Booker keeps his belt. No one outside of Smackdown would want it anyway.

The theme of the PPV to me was "Your votes do not matter."

-Your votes for the Umaga match did not matter because he was going to win anyway, decent match but the crowd seemed pro Kane and did not like the ending.

-Your votes for the Tag team match did not matter because Crime Tyme was going to win regardless. I do like Texas tornado matches, but it was boring for the most part.

-Your votes for the IC match did not matter because Jeff Hardy was going to hold onto the strap regardless. Carlito and Jeff got some boring chants mid way through.

-Your votes for the Women's match did not matter because all the divas were outside the ring anyway, so a lumber jack match was inevitable. This match was bad, Lita seemed out of it and not even trying, Mickie is great, but she can't carry Lita like Trish could.

-Your votes for the Flair and Spirit squad match mattered! This was the feel good match of the night. I love Piper, but he has to LEAVE THE SHIRT ON. The dancing at the end was priceless!

-Your votes for the DX vs Orton and Edge did not matter. DX is horrible, we had to put the mute button on for their intro. Two 40-year olds acting like teenagers is not funny. Of course, we had to see naked male ass because DX loves doing that for some reason. This was the match of the night for me. I am a huge WCW fan so Bischoff was obviously a good choice, Edge should still be champ and Orton was "ortoned" by HHH. The right people won this match.

-Your votes for the Main Event did not matter at all! It was so obvious that the winner of the match was going to be the person whos belt was put up for grabs. Funny exchange between Booker and Cena in the back...Show was out for most of the match due to his injuries in real life I assume. The end was horrible. Mr Spears costs Cena the match then poses for like 5 minutes to end the show. Way to say FU to everyone at home.

Overall, a bad PPV and those that read the results online saved money and missed nothing!

This was the WORST Pay Per View I have ever seen in my LIFE...only one match was good...in my opinion...and I have been a WWE fan for most of my life...but I do not wanna see K-fed on a PPV...I don't wanna see him period...I am seriously considering not watch RAW anymore so I can not see him if that's what I gotta do..
