PUNK CONTINUES TO IMPRESS - FIRST BATCH OF READER FEEDBACK TO ECW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 11/8/2006 8:36 AM
CM Punk vs Mike Knox was easily the best match on the show and the best showings by both since they debuted in ECW.

Daivari vs Little Guido was good for what it was, its good to see Daivari get to show his in ring skills instead of being somebody's mouth piece.

Test vs Tommy Dreamer was predictable from the second the bell rang, but Test has been at his peak since returning to WWE/ECW.

WOW! Hardcore Holly turned heel after turning face a few weeks back, I wonder if the same people who book Raw are booking ECW. How did this match build RVD as the top contender for the ECW Title when all he got was beat up by Big Show & Hardcore Holly?

ECW still looks weird with all the changes to the arena from last week but at least this week there was quality entertainment on tap.

First off The Punk-Knox match was an awesome kick-off and I think really was one of the better traditional wrestling matches on ECW thus far. Mike Knox was put over despite losing and I think he might have something in him.

On a side note with CM Punk getting in both a DX led Survivor Series elimination match and the Elimination Chamber at December 2 Dismember I think it is safe to say he is getting the rub to the main event.

Then Elijah Burke and Turkay were interviewed and does it cross anyone's mind that ECW has no room for everyone that is coming in and the guys they already have on there? I mean Christopher W. Anderson, Tony Mamaluke, Balls Mahoney, Danny Dorring Steven Richards and Rene Dupree have been in the phantom zone for a few weeks now.

After that, Paul Heyman had his "announcement" and besides the fact he said any man from any brand can step in the final slot for the chamber, it was a bore. I got two ideas for the final slot and those are either Hardcore Holly or Lashley. For Hardcore's reason read-on and for the Lashley due to rumored move Lashley is making.

Daivari and Little Gudio had an enjoyable match. I am liking Daivari and I think he could have been a legit Cruiserweight Champion on SmackDown.

Test and Tommy Dreamer faced off in a match that really meant nothing. All they got for it was a slot in the chamber. Anyway Test 2002 called, they want their stiff back.

The tag match was good but I was surprised that all Hardcore Holly did was beat up Rob Van Dam. He didn't even slug Big Show. He just laid his boots into RVD's gut and then Alabama Slammed him on a chair. I understand Holly will probably blame RVD for the whole scar thing but if you teaming with someone, unless you plan on becoming a cowardly heel which Hardcore Holly would never be, there is no reason he shouldn't have fought in the match.

Longtime reader, first time feedbacker. Here are my thoughts on ECW tonight.

Was looking forward to tonight's show, as due to other commitments I have not actually watched the program in a few months.

CM PUNK v MIKE KNOX - Perfectly watchable match. Have heard a lot and seen a lot of CM Punk and am a big fan. He also appeared seriously over with the crowd. I'm not impressed with big men as a rule but Knox definitely had his moments so I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. We all knew Punk was going over but nonetheless a good opener

BURKE/TERKAY INTERVIEW - Well Rebecca has a lovely smile but not the best of voices..why she's interviewing is beyond me. Burke seem like a handy guy on the mic, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of what he can do in the ring. From what I've heard of Turkay he needs to adapt to the WWE style. Basic interview that actually makes me want to watch Burke in the ring

HEYMAN PROMO - Why Heyman will be wrestling tonight is another no brainer and I hope they do something with this open contract thing otherwise its pointless. Good Heyman promo nonetheless despite the contact

LITTLE GUIDO V DAVIARI - Shame this was a glorified squash as I bet these 2 could go given time. And why in the world is the Great Khali on my TV. They give a future star like Paul Birchall a bloody pirate gimmick that can't get him over yet they employ this loser.

CYBER SUNDAY ENCORE AD - I feel so sorry for people who bought this...thankfully I'm back to free/cheap PPVS back in England soon

TEST v TOMMY DREAMER - Big pop from me for Dreamer mainly as fan of the ECW and partly because I had the pleasure, as an Englishman coming to the end of a work stint in the US, of working in Yonkers during my trip. Obvious who was going over and Test still has to convince me to be a fan. I do hope they do not give him the title at the PPV

THE MARINE - Yawn

PAUL HEYMAN AND THE BIG SLOW v ROB VAN DAM AND HARDCORE HOLLY - Boring match for me as RVD cannot carry the Big Slow on this night to a watchable match. I woke up with the Harcore Holly turn, which im ashamed to admit, I didn't see coming. Good idea as Holly is better as a hell. Snore of a match, thank god The Big Slow will be on the treatment table soon.

OVERALL - Glimpse of good stuff mixed in with typical WWE creative rubbish.

Cheers,
