THE HARDYS STILL HAVE IT - READER FEEDBACK TO ECW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 11/22/2006 10:28 AM

I give the show a C. For the simple fact that there wasn't anything else on and was somewhat interesting to see how they're pushing Lashley a lot in 2 weeks. I believe the show took place in Long Island, if so why have Matt Striker lose in the state he used to teach? Put him against someone other than Lashley, because a fan with wrestling knowledge sees no chance of Striker winning with a Lashley push. RVD vs Holly was an ok TV match up. If it wasn't for weapons, might not have been fun to watch. On a happy note, sounded like to me a TNA! TNA! TNA! chant broke out towards the end of the match before the 5 star splash on Holly. Phenomenal!

Well over the past few weeks ECW looked different and had more of the WWE guys that I don't particularly wanted to see on ECW like Rene Dupree. I found this show as good as the weeks before the drastic changes that were made the week of Halloween. This week we only saw Matt Striker who just jobbed out to Lashley so I did not mind that.

I cannot believe the F.B.I. still had a job. I thought that they were gone from ECW as they have not been on at all in the past few weeks. The Hardyz still have it as a team and this was the most fire I've seen from Matt since the Edge feud last year. The Super-Powerplex was a sick spot. I wonder if Tony Mamaluke needed help after that one because it looked like he could have easily gotten neck problems from it.

Kevin Thorn and CM Punk had an entertaining match. I actually always liked Thorn from the Mordecai days. I thought WWE killed that gimmick too soon. Plus he is my ideal big man, a man who unlike let's say for argument's shake Test who is a walking muscle. The one problem I had with that was that it looks like Punk is the heel and Mike Knox is the face due to the ending of the segment. I personally don't mind Punk as the a****** heel because he was awesome in ROH as both the straight edge messiah in 2003 and the WWE "sellout" in 2005, however that is like making a major babyface who is ready to breakout as a face.

The Heyman/Show segment was cool as I know from experience the New York/Long Island crowd are full of fans who don't forget. I mean even though it was 4 years ago and "What?" was not that old, they actually had to edit the Kurt Angle interview from the Heat before Summer Slam 2002 because of the fans saying "What?" through out the entire interview. Anyway I liked when Big Show ended up bashing the crowd for that.

The Holly-RVD match was not as good as the first as we knew what was coming this time however the Superplex onto the chair was a sick spot. Not as sick as the Hardyz planting Mamaluke but I still think I've only seen one worse intentional spot than that. The match was solid but because we knew what to expect this time around it was not as good.

Now if only ECW can be like this, have more Balls Mahoney, Sandman and Tommy Dreamer on it and less Rene Dupree, Test and Matt Striker as a wrestler, I will be fine with it.
