RUNT VS. HOMICIDE: FUN, BUT SHORT - READER FEEDBACK TO TNA IMPACT

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 1/5/2007 12:01 PM
Overall, I thought Impact was a solid show tonight. There were some weak spots but overall a good effort.

I like the way they are handling the Samoa Joe/Angle issue. Each week they are changing which one is going off the deep end and which is the aggressor. A simple dynamic that makes it much more interesting. I think giving these 2 guys 30 minutes to cut loose on the next PPV should be excellent. I applaud whoever made that decision. The brawl at the end of the show was very intense and fun to watch.

I wish they would just give up and get rid of the VKM and Paparazzi challenge angles. These 2 things are accomplishing nothing and going nowhere. They are the biggest minuses TNA has going now.

I liked the match between Rhino and Roode. I just don't like the continued problems with Ms. Brooks and the dalliance with Eric Young. That doesn't make anyone look good. Surely they can come up with a better way to get Eric Young on my TV than this crap with Ms. Brooks. However, they recovered from that with the appearance of AJ Styles. He is moving more and more into this heel role. The attack from behind and the double team with Roode pretty much cemented his heel turn. And he looked perfectly smug and satisfied with himself when it was over.

The Video package with Daniels/Sabin /Lynn was very well done and set up the different dynamics of this three way feud.

I liked the Runt vs LAX match, although it was short. That toss onto the ladder looked seriously rough. The LAX match with 3D at the PPV should be good. At some point you think you gotta let 3D have the belts to give em the sweep of major promotions, but do you take em off LAX already or keep this going a while?

The Interview with Gail Kim was also interesting. It was just assumed she would stay with Harris b/c of the dynamics lately, but now they throw a question mark into that with this segment. Should be fun to see where this goes.

The Abyss/James Mitchell segment left as many questions as it answered, which I think was the point and was the right move. This continues to be intriguing.

I already addressed the ending brawl above, but I liked the way that Cage tried to play the cowardly heel and try to get a cheap win out of it instead of just going to the back and forgetting the match. If it weren't for Tomko, I think a tag match between Sting/Angle and Cage and a partner in the near future could be fun.Sting/Angle vs Cage/Samoa Joe for instance could be a lot of fun.

Overall a B+ to A - show.

Someone want to explain to me how Ms. Brooks has the power to fire Eric Young?

Or perhaps why Sting didn't attack Kurt Angle? I mean, Kurt broke the ankle of a woman, wouldn't a babyface like Sting be appalled by that?

Homicide vs. Runt would be a great match ... if they let it go more than four minutes. Then again, is anything allowed to go that long on Impact?
