PREDICTABLE, BUT SOLID - READER FEEDBACK TO WWE NEW YEAR'S REVOLUTION

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 1/8/2007 10:49 AM
I thought New Year's Revolution was a good PPV. I don't think it will go down as one of the best of the year, but I wouldn't class it as a bad show. Here's my thoughts on the matches...

Jeff Hardy vs Johnny Nitro was a good opener. I liked the finish at the end with Nitro being stuck on the door. I don't recall ever seeing that happen in a cage match.

The tag team turmoil match was better than I thought it would be. I was surprised though that Benjamin and Haas didn't make it to the end since they have been having altercations with Cryme Tyme over the past few weeks.

Vince is going to get Donald Trump vs Rosie on Raw? Why do I get the feeling this will involve the fat naked oily guy?

Flair vs Kenny was good too. I like Kenny as he shows a lot of athleticism in the ring. Dressing like Flair on the way to the ring was a nice touch. I was surprised Kenny got the win.

Mickie vs Victoria was a very good match and Mickie winning presumably means their feud will continue which I welcome if it leads to more matches like this.

Now it was time for the big controversy of the night. First off I'd like to say I'm not a Triple H fan and that I despise the current incarnation of DX. I also think he and Michaels could have done a lot more for the other guys in the company over the past few months. Despite all that however, I have to give a lot of credit to the man for the guts he showed in finishing the match, even though he seemed to be in a lot of discomfort. There were a lot of botched incidents in the match after the injury but I don't think you can be too critical over that considering what had happened. Michaels going crazy with the chair was a great sight as it seemed like he was trying to save the match from disaster and I popped for that. I really hope Triple H isn't injured as severely as he was back in 2001.

Carlito vs Masters was next I guess to prepare the crowd for the main event. It was an OK match even though the crowd was pretty dead. Masters looks huge now. What are we supposed to attribute this to? Spinach? I loved Carlito's springboard moonsault. I was surprised to see him lose in the end.

Cena vs Umaga held my interest the entire bout and I thought it was a good match. The finish was the right one as Umaga doesn't deserve the belt just yet and the way he lost keeps him strong.

Overall I felt this was a solid showing from WWE. I don't think there were any stellar matches but there were no bad ones either. The real story of the show was The Game's injury. The fact that he kicked out of the weak RKO he was given and that he told Edge to kick out of his pedigree earned him my respect tonight. He continued on in pain in order to give the fans a good match. HBK also deserves credit for trying to rescue the situation.

I don't like DX but tonight I damn sure respect them. Get well soon Game.

I give the show a 3/5.

I give it about a 6 out of 10 but very predictable. Glad to see them do some tag team matches and hopefully more emphasis on tag team matches. WWE better pull some more surprises and more wrestling and less talking. If you do more tag team wrestling maybe you could use more of your wrestlers instead of them sitting at home waiting on a storyline. Sorry to hear about HHH injury and hope nothing serious. I guess that throws a wrench in Wrestlemania plans with the rumored Cena vs. HHH match. Maybe Cena vs. Michaels match.

Thank You, T

WWE did it again. I paid my $40, thinking with four titles on the line, one of them might change hand. Nope. Well, at least Ric Flair will finally get revenge on Kenny for ripping him off for the last few weeks. Nope. All I got for my money was a okay cage match (not long enough to be great), a bloody DX brawl (with no real finish), and Umaga's big undefeated streak ending in the most anti-climactic way possible. I bet Raw tonight will have more interesting storyline twists than the PPV. I'm done with the single brand shows.
