KHALI, TRUMP-ROSIE MAKE FOR ONE BAD SHOW, SECOND BATCH OF FEEDBACK TO RAW

By PWInsider Readers on 1/9/2007 10:12 AM

This week's Raw gets a thumbs down from me. I felt it had some good moments but it had two really horrible moments which left a very bad taste in my mouth by the time the show ended. I enjoyed the Hardy/Kenny match and the women's match was OK. The Carlito/Masters match was all right, as was Cryme Tyme's match with Cade and Murdoch.

However let's focus on the bad stuff because unfortunately the bad far outweighed the good. The Donald Trump/Rosie "match" was just atrocious. Vince, what were you thinking? The fans crapped all over it and I was delighted. Did you hear that really loud TNA chant? I popped for that. I also liked the "we want wrestling" chant. This part of the broadcast just dragged on and on. It wasn't funny and it wasn't entertaining. It was PAINFUL.

The other horrible part of the show was the debut of the "Great" Khali. This is the guy who is going to bring star power now that Triple H is gone? The guy's awful. My guess is that Khali is going to face Hogan at Wrestlemania because I noticed Lawler compared him to Andre the Giant during his match with Cena.

The high point of the show for me was Shawn Michael's superb promo which was both intense and emotional. Even so, this episode of Raw was too unsatisfying.

Vince, in the words of the fans in the arena, "we want wrestling"!

What a waste of two hours of my life. the Rosie/Donald debacle made me truly embarrassed to admit I am a "wrestling" fan. I was in agreement 100% with the crowd that was chanting TNA and boring throughout the entire segment. and for the powers that be to believe that sending the "Great" Khali in with his "star" power will help compensate the loss of Triple HHH, that is such an insult to the fans but more importantly to an athlete who has learned his trade, love or hate him.

It's 10:09 PM Eastern. I just watched the Rosie v. Donald segment. There is almost an hour of programming left counting the overrun, and I am still confident enough to say this is the most putrid night of wrestling I've ever watched. I'd be insulted that WWE thought I'd be entertained by that dreck if not for the fact that I actually feel bad for Vince McMahon. If he truly thought that was good television, he is hopelessly out of touch. What's worse is that the segment seemed to drag on forever and took up several backstage segments. And the chances of me sticking around to see the Great Khali in the main event? Non-existent. The only positive of that insane move is that he's off ECW. Question: How could Khali's ECW contract be expired when he just arrived in ECW a few weeks ago? Did he sign one of those 5-week deals from the GM mode of Smackdown vs. Raw? I'm watching the National Championship game.

To say that that Rosie/Donald segment was atrocious would be a vast understatement. This was vintage WWE, so it doesn't shock me at all. The thing that irks me, however, is that this took place in the shadows of the old Kiel Auditorium, where the St. Louis Wrestling Club, the pure wrestling predecessor to Ring Of Honor, presented the finest wrestling on the planet, a product that was well-respected by the outside media. Sam Muchnick and Pat O'Connor are most definitely turning in their graves after last night.

Good lord...

This was probably the worst RAW show I have seen in months if not the worst episode ever. I don't mind seeing Khali for 4 - 5 minutes but I DO mind seeing a horrible storyline revolving around non-wrestlers who have nothing to do with WWE WHATSOEVER. It took about half of the time RAW had in this week and it was beyond horrible. I hated it.

Orton is a horrible promo and he even makes Edge stink.

What I liked about the show was the Dysktra/Hardy bout which was one of the better RAW TV-show matches in the latest weeks. I also liked the Carlito/Masters match-up but I had wished they'd given Carlito this win at NYR.

All in all I have to say that I wish I had those two hours of my life I wasted watching this show back...

After seeing the booking of the finish of the PPV and main event on Raw, I get the strong impression that the WWE has inadvertently elevated Samoa Joe.
