READER FEEDBACK TO TNA IMPACT

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 1/12/2007 12:30 PM
TNA either needs another hour, or they need to prioritize their storylines and decide which ones are really selling PPV events and which are just filler.  It seems like TNA is trying to devote equal time to everything, which is noble, but at the end of the hour, I feel like nothing has been concentrated on enough to get me to want to order the PPV.  That said, I will still order this Sunday's event, just to see what Joe and Angle can do with 30 minutes.

Tonight I did something different when I watched Impact. I invited some people over that watched during the Monday Night Wars to see what they thought of the product. Their immediate feedback was somewhat surprising. Kurt Angle was recognized, note that the last time most of these guys watched was late 2004 when Randy Orton lost the WWE belt for no reason, but didn't really enjoy it. They asked me why he was wrestling a jobber when he should have been wrestling someone with some name to them.

My friends thought the Abyss storyline was pretty stupid but when they saw him on their screen they immediately started to cheer him on in his match against Tomko. Christian as a main eventer puzzled them slightly but after me filling them in on his 2005 run in WWE where he was the brightest spot on most of the shows, they at least gave him a chance and didn't want to change the channel. One thing my friend Kevin noted was that Christian looked more confident than he had since he had last seen him and that he looked like he was really enjoying what he did on TV.

To my surprise, their favorite segment (this was unanimous as a matter of fact amongst the 4 of them) was the Voodoo Kin Mafia sketches. I was asked if they did this every week and when I said they had been doing different vignettes making fun of HHH and Shawn Michaels they were hooked.

The 6 man match was enjoyed, they were skeptical since they only knew Rhino to start with. The star of the match in their eyes was AJ Styles and they asked me if I had some of his other stuff lying around (which I did, I showed them the first Joe vs. Styles vs. Daniels) so I take it that they were open to new wrestlers if they come off well on TV.

The only eh part of the show for them was some of the Team 3-D stuff. They kept wanting D-Von get the tables but all they got were interviews. 2 of the 4 asked to come back next week to watch so hopefully Thursday can become what Monday was for me in middle school and high school where people were over to watch wrestling again.

Voodoo Kin Mafia cracks me up.  Kevin Nash cracks me up.  TNA has it all over WWE in the humor department. I'll take this stuff over Donald vs. Rosie any day of the week.  They also have it all over WWE in the wrestling department, they just don't seem to have enough time to showcase that in a one hour show.
