WHERE'S THE WRESTLING? - READER FEEDBACK TO TNA IMPACT

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 2/2/2007 9:54 AM
So, another one hour episode of iMPACT has come and gone with ten minutes of actual wrestling. Yippee.

The X-division match: too many people, not enough time. No one really stood out, which should be impossible with that amount of talent in one place. Leave it to Russo and co. to keep sucking the life out of these guys. At least Chris Sabin was good for some chuckles before the match.

Roode vs. Williams: look, I know you want to try and push two angles at once (Roode and Young, Storm and Williams) but how about letting an actual match take place before sending out the interference?

Styles vs. Joe: see above, only don't bother hyping it up as a PPV-caliber main event and then fail to deliver an actual match. Man, am I getting sick of all the interference...

I've been following TNA since their debut on FSN and am amazed at how quickly iMPACT is going downhill. Remember when a match going to the ten minute time limit was a real possibility? Now we get segment, match, segment, segment, match, segment, match (and usually another segment to wrap up the show). Where's all of the action? Yes, the piece with Sabin was amusing, but why in the hell is Bob Backlund sitting around mumbling? And why is he on TV?

The piece with Christian and Tomko was decent, as it accomplished two things. First, you build up the question of who the consultant is, and second, Christians facial expressions said plenty about his heelish nature when Tomko turned his back.

VKM? Who cares? They can't wrestle. They add nothing to the show or TNA as a whole. But I do have the uneasy feeling that we'll be seeing a Kip James/Christy Hemme (who is always nice to look at) match with B.G. as the referee...

What, exactly, is the deal with Ron Killings? Will he finally see a sustained push?

I could probably spend an hour listening to a James Mitchell and be quite happy. The man is simply amazing on the mic and may be the only thing that saves the whole Abyss/Katie Vi-err, father-shooting crap. Hey, Russo- this guy's supposed to be a monster!

Lance Hoyt: why should I care? His little push stalled out earlier (whatever happened to Hoytamania?) and now he'll have to carry a match with one former wrestler and two non-wrestlers?

Christopher Daniels: now what? Heavyweight champ?

Joe/Angle: Wow! Four months in and I'm already tired of their stale feud. Send Joe back to the X-division (or put both straps on him) and let him tear down the house with Lynn, Shelley and co. And enough of this polling for "Who wants to be a consultant?" The fans have made it clear that they don't want Goldberg around, Brock probably still has his no-compete clause still in effect, so who are we left with? Daniel Puder? Look, if you want to hype something, fine. Just make sure the payoff is worth it. Tossing around big names as potential newcomers only to bring a no-name or mid-carder isn't exactly going to get the fans pumped up. Heck, look at Abyss and his "secret." How long was that hyped? And then we get crapped on with a soap opera plot twist?

Vince Russo, you need to understand that people watch TNA because they want to see something different than WWE's "sports entertainment." We want to see wrestling. A good match can tell a much more interesting story than any vignette!

I thought TNA was all about wrestling. All I saw is 2 matches that was short and a lot of storylines. I think TNA needs to give the fans who turn out to watch Impact wrestling instead of gibber jabber in the back or in the ring. Even with 2 hours we would get the same stuff but even worse. I think TNA needs to fix their show in 1 hour and then go to 2 hours because the show is getting worse and worse every week. If they continue to get worse I'm going to stick to watching Smackdown where there is a lot more wrestling

For a company who's name is TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION & who's slogan is "WE ARE WRESTLING!" then please tell me WHERE THE HELL IS IT! For the past couple of weeks, all we've gotten is around 3 matches that equal around 10 mins. total while the rest is just full of promos & backstage skits. This is coming from a FORMER TNA fan but as long as Russo keeps booking the show like this & having disappointing "PPV quality" main events...we'll end up seeing TNA on WWE 24/7 within a few years.

People can say how boring & stale ECW is...but at least they have wrestling on a WRESTLING SHOW!

TNA says "WE ARE WRESTLING"...then please tell me where it is because it sure isn't on IMPACT!
