BENOIT SHOULD NOT BE TAPPING OUT TO CENA THAT FAST - READER FEEDBACK TO RAW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 3/20/2007 10:21 AM
Well, we start the evening with the traditional bait and switch. HBK vs JBL in a match that never happens. We know it won't because - well - JBL doesn't wrestle anymore. Instead JBL does what he does best. He actually multitasks. He runs his mouth, AND he bores the hell out of us. That is until HBK inserts some sweet chin music.

Say, did you know there was going to be a hair vs hair match?? Battle of the Billionaire. No "s". According to Forbes, Vinnie Mac isn't quite that rich. It's amazing how many celebrities are stupid enough to think that Trump would agree to have his head shaved. Whereas Vince will try anything once. But damned if this borefest isn't getting the most promo airtime of any of the Wrestlemania matches.

Since Vince is a vindictive bastard, Edge's spot in the MITB match is up for grabs tonight. WhatEVER will he do??

Finally, finally someone (Lashley) escaped from the Masterlock. And so ends the segment from hell.

Why, I didn't know Ashley was in Playboy?? I really need to get better tv reception in this dark cave I live in.

Note to all wrestlers. NEVER spill coffee on the boss. Especially if you're Eugene and your boss is a dick.

The battle royal(e) for Edge's spot in the MITB match. And the winner is.....Edge. Wow. Way to kill some time.

Umaga squishes Eugene, and then shaves Eugene's head. I think he looks better like this.

Candice & Melina have a contest to see who be the cattiest. It was a tie, but in the true spirit of sportsmanship they decide to solve their differences the way all true competitors do. A bra and panties match. Melina wins which means Candice got stripped. Oh, damn the luck. Then Ashley comes out. Unfortunately Great Khali comes out. Uhhhh, run?? Ashley is about to get a boo boo, but then here comes Lawler to save the day. Sorry Jerry, but unless you're going to drop a building on his head, you're pretty screwed after that first punch. Can you say buh bye??

Orton vs Jeff Hardy - Edge interferes, and provides a ladder, which - oops - Hardy utilizes to drop way far down onto Orton.

They run down the Wrestlemania card, and I'm sure Benoit is thrilled that his match w/MVP wasn't mentioned.

Vince is on the phone, and says that next week HE will face Lashley. Oh, god. I see Armando Estrada as the ring announcer, and Umaga as the guest ref. This match is later referred to as ONE of the main events for next weeks Raw. God, Vince is an arrogant piece of crap.

John Cena actually gets Benoit to tap out in a pretty good/short match. Afterward, HBK teases superkicking Cena, then Cena grabs HBK for the FU but lets him go. Then Bradshaw comes out wearing his 10 gallon hat on his 1 gallon brain. Next week it'll be Cena/Michaels vs Batista & Undertaker. Yes, again.

Number of titles NOT being defended at Wrestlemania. Right now for the Raw side - the IC title, and the tag titles won't be defended. On Smackdown - THEIR tag titles and the Cruiserweight belt won't be defended. Why does anyone even care about winning a championship anymore??

My thoughts of the show was that it was OK... not great, but several (hopefully) good things came out of it.

Good: Lashley breaking the Masterlock Challenge. Hopefully this is the end of this stupid thing. I don't even care if Chris Masters now feuds with Lashley as long as we don't have to sit through another one of this idiotic things. However, in Masters' defense... Lashley doesn't have much of a neck. Eugene getting squashed and losing his hair. At first I was scared with the Eugene character, then they made him likable but never gave him any real direction and he got lost in creative. I hope this is the beginning of his repackage. Cena vs. Benoit was a very good match... right until the end when Benoit tapped. It's rare when I have EVER seen Benoit tap. And I would much rather have seen him "pass out" from the pain than give Cena an absolute clean win. To me, this weakened Benoit considering he wasn't in the STFU for very long and he's supposed to be one of the most hardcore guys in the WWE, someone who can stand amazing amounts of pain. HBK and Cena teasing the mind games/JBL teasing the Undertaker and the reactions of the men in the ring.

Bad: Melina vs. Candice... Does anyone care? Candice is so plastic that it's like looking at a Barbie Doll. Her "shoot" interviews regarding Melina have seemed so scripted that it was just waiting in the wings to come out as an angle. Even if she does have a legitimate beef with Melina because of the comments about Candice and Ashley really only being in the WWE because they were willing to strip, Melina's really not wrong. And Candice's comments in her interview about how she came to the WWE to LEARN how to wrestle... Isn't that something that EVERYBODY else has to do BEFORE getting to the WWE? Vince's Promos... 'nuff said.

Mix: The Royal Rumble. The bad part was that everybody new Edge was going to win. (Watch the replay and you see Flair practically jump over the top rope....) However, it was very cool that they paid a little tribute to Flair and at least made him look strong and maybe even give him some momentum. The tribute to Arnold Skaaland. Why do I consider this a mix? Because of the commercial that followed after such a heartfelt goodbye by JR and Lawler.

I didn't see several parts because I simply didn't care... like Eugene getting his head shaved. Thankfully they show replays of it 3 times a night.

Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.

I don't care if you hate Cena or love him, WWE Champ and Tag Team champ or not, Benoit should NEVER have been tapping to him. Plain and simple. Makes me want to puke. Benoit is FAR better than Cena. Benoit deserves FAR better than that.
