DID THEY THINK WRESTLEMANIA WAS ON TUESDAY NIGHT? - READER FEEDBACK TO ECW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 4/4/2007 11:17 AM
ECW tonight was 1 thing to me, X-PAC HEAT! I lost interest in the Battle of the Billionaires alooooong time ago Bobby Lashley! Hopefully this brings a conclusion to your saga with Vince. But wait, Now you get to wrestle GENE SNITSKY!!! YES!. Honestly, I almost threw up when the camera hit close ups of Snitsky, How does he get so wet before shows? And the SNOT! WOW nice A&R job there. I'm not eating dinner during ECW anymore. But, the spot with Holly's arm was alright, he does a great job

I love Timberland as an artist but stay away from the ring dawg, too bad he'll be back on Friday. Layla El shouldn't of straightened her hair either. Anyway, the main event was a pure spotfest and I'm a sucker for those but seriously, isn't a bit absurd to use the same broken trash can throughout the whole match? The stop sign too! Are they taking a page out of Raven's Flock? Where are they Abyss Thumbtacks? The Barbwire baseball bat ala Big Show? But, for what it was, it was a sweet brawl. With a lot of back and forth, I really couldn't tell the ending until Kevin Thorn no-sold the exploding double leg drop table bit.

I like Punk's angle in this bit too, but maybe he should stay out and feud with Stevie Richards, bring back Mike Knox or throw in Balls. I don't know

Matt Striker is better off on the Mic too.

On another note, I really really hope HHH gets rid of that Nasty Beard/Chops combo he was sporting at the hall of fame, Pure Malarkey right there.

On a scale of 1 to 5 I give ECW tonight not a 3.14 because that would be a piece of pie, more like Cake. A solid 2

Hey All!

Once again I will keep it VERY short. I liked all matches and of course we had as usual official toilet break match (Holly vs. Snitsky)

1. Can someone plzzzzzzz ask C M Punk to teach John Cena how to SELL. C M Punk didn’t get a huge high risk spot at Mania like Edge but he did get 2 moves from top of the ladder. And after 2 days he is still SELLING it like crazy, on the other hand John “The Superman” Cena didn’t sell his leg even for ONLY 10 MINs.

2. If I remember, ECW creative team (probably Finlay) didn’t want C M Punk to go over Hardcore Holly, a couple of weeks back, because he thought that Holly is a veteran and SHOULD go over C M Punk clean, right in the middle of the ring, even being a heel. How come he didn’t remember the same point last night?

3. Main event was the match of the night but I have ONE BIG QUESTION. ….. DID THEY THINK WRESTLEMANIA WAS ON TUESDAY NIGHT?

I may be the only one who still does feedback for ECW. I may be the only one who still watches ECW. Nevertheless, I thought this was a wholly boring show that was saved by the last match. The show opens with Bobby Lashley and a live mic. Never a good omen. Big Bob showed a little improvement this week. He didn't seem to be searching for his words. But he doesn't come across intimidating in the least bit. He kinda sounds like a gentle giant and dude smiles more than any other Unstoppable Force I know. Is Lashley ever going to have a program with anyone from his home brand? Punk v. Richards was solid. Richards has to be pleased that the weeks between TV appearances decreased exponentially this time, but I seem to remember seeing this match already. Perhaps not. I didn't check my log of ECW on Sci-Fi matches. They did continue the slow build of Punk and the New Breed, so that was good. Their encounter was entertaining, and I liked the role Striker played of the calm ambassador to Cor Von's "with us or against us" attitude. Shhhh! Snitsky. At least it was short. And the chair-on-the-steps-on-the-arm spot was pretty cool, even though as the report stated, the way they showed the first shot, with the steps kinda hanging off one side a bit told you where his arm was. Still effective. The Main Event was a lot of fun, and a lot of plunder as you guys would say. There were some very cool spots (the double leg drop thru the table, the Elijah Express thru the table are just two of many), not to mention the old ECW staple spots like Air Sabu and the Dreamer Tree of Woe. It was fun and kinda weird to see them here. My only complaint (and it's not that big since like I said, I thought the match was fun) was that it seems like WWE views the "old ECW" as very similar to their old Hardcore Division. They had their share of STOP sign bashing, but there was a little more to it than that. Sandman did hit a plancha, though.

All I would like to say is that I have not seen a crowd at an ECW show that alive in the past few months as they were for last night's extreme rules main event. Thankfully, it wasn't just one or two spots, it was an all out extreme rules battle. I liked that! I would hope that send a message to the creative team/WWE.
