WWE TAG TEAMS WEEKLY

Welcome to WWE Tag Teams Weekly, a new column at PWInsider. Each week I will look at every tag team on the WWE roster and see where they stand. Will they be Thumbs up, Thumbs Down or Thumbs in the middle? If they are Thumbs up it means they are really soaring, if they are in the middle it means they didn't do anything to really help their status but didn't diminish it either and if they are thumbs down, well then they can only get better. On to the teams this week...
Deuce and Domino (w/Cherry)
They are the Smackdown Tag Champs, They have a beautiful valet, a nice car and oh wait a minute - one of them is injured. With Domino out we really haven't seen much from the champs these past few weeks as a duo but they still have the belts so that is a plus. Another plus is that Deuce competed against arguably the biggest singles star on the brand. He lost but got a nice rub for his efforts. Being the champs makes them on top of the heap and taking on a big name like Batista helps them, so for this week the champs get a very slight thumbs up
Brett Major and Brian Major
They weren't seen on television this week. But seeing as they are the only other official team on Smackdown it really didn't hurt. In all honestly this team is extremely green and need more time to develop. They really aren't contenders yet for the straps. Not being on the show does them no good at all. Thumbs way down.
Jesse and Festus
Man o' man can these guys please arrive already? How many weeks of promos do we need to understand who these guys are? Honestly until they start bangin' heads I can't really give them anything but a thumbs down as their promos haven't done much to thrill me at all.
Brian Kendrick and Paul London
They weren't on Raw but apparently did work a match on heat. These two are possibly the best young athletes in WWE today and just are not getting their just deserts. I see them taking on Cade and Murdoch for the titles soon but Raw has the deepest tag division of the three brands right now and it may be hard for them. Thumbs in the middle.
The Highlanders
Robbie and Rory were also a part of heat so at least they are getting some Internet face time. Unfortunately for them, both Cryme Time and London and Kendrick are further up the ladder than they are. They need wins, they need reaction and they need to get some heat. Many would benefit from moving from Raw to Smackdown right now but none as much as the Highlanders - Instantly they would be vying for the Smackdown titles if they were there. Thumbs in the middle.
Cryme Tyme
JTG and Shad were the only tag team to compete on Raw this week. They returned from quite a long absence. In their return they defeated two jobbers and then sold one of the jobbers' boots for forty bucks. Cryme Tyme has never looked better in the ring. These guys are ready for prime time as it were. They need a few wins over well established teams and then these guys will get their shot. Thumbs way up to CT not only for the win but for saving the show this week.
World's Greatest Tag Team (Haas and Benjamin)
WGTT also worked heat this week. Their performances are always good but this year has been very up and down for the duo. Three or four years ago these two were in high profile matches for the smackdown title against Los Guerrero's, now they are a middle card dynasty act. Sometimes they work as singles, sometimes as doubles. They have proven they can go though and this is another team that would really benefit from being on Smackdown instead of Raw. For this week, they get a thumbs in the middle.
Cade and Murdoch
Cyrme Tyme gets on Raw but we haven't seen much from the redneck tag champs in about two weeks. It really makes little sense. These guys deserve a spot at SummerSlam. Personally I'd like to see them feud with Deuce and Domino and unify the belts but alas I am but only one man in a world of billions. Cade and Murdoch are the best tag team in the business today, bar none. They get a thumbs way down for being regulated to heat.
Best Tag Team of The Week Award - CRYME TYME
In Closing -
This week really didn't do much to elevate any of the tag teams. I do hope to see some improvement soon as well as some new blood coming in. Rumor has it a certain team formally from TNA might be coming over soon, if that happens then the WWE tag division needs to be put on notice. At this point I also think there are many low and mid card stars who could benefit from being in tag teams instead of trying to work the singles division. I've always thought Mark Henry and Big Daddy V should tag together, they' d really shine a light on the division and possibly be one of the greatest tag teams in WWE's history. Val Venis, Super Crazy, Kenny Dykstra and Carlito also would be excellent additions in the tag team ranks. So we will see what happens next week!! Thanks for reading WWE Tag Teams Weekly!!!
