TAG TEAM WEEKLY

By Joel C. Croyle on 10/16/2007 12:13 PM

Oct 10th – October 17th, 2007

Introduction:

If what WWE said is true and what they have up on wwe.com is the final card for Cyber Sunday it is a real shame because on both shows the tag divisions are really heating up and for them not to be a part of the next PPV is really too bad. This week had some excellent in ring action and the teams that were involved at TNA’s Bound for Glory PPV were absolutely on top of their game. Let’s get right to it, shall we?

RAW

Cade and Murdoch

They had great mic work on Raw during the match between Rory and Kendrick. I would have liked to see them in a match though. Thumbs in the middle

Kendrick and London

Kendrick lost his match to the highlander and it seems as though the fastest team in wrestling is fastly loosing their spot on the raw roster and especially the tag title hunt. Thumbs down

The Highlanders

Rory picked up a nice win and this team seems to be heading for a tag title match down the line. Thumbs up.

Smackdown

Deuce and Domino

At least they were on Smackdown. It looks as if they might end up in a feud with Jesse and Festus somewhere down the line. Unfortunately again D and D are being used as background players in a feud that isn’t surrounding them, this time Noble and Yang. Thumbs in the middle.

Matt Hardy and M.V.P

They had a strong bout with Kane and Undertaker. MVP is by far the best heel in this business since Edge left and quite possibly might be the best heel on any brand of the WWE or even TNA. The little things he does are just so incredibly well thought out and effective. Great team and good match even though they lost. Thumbs in the middle.

Jesse and Festus

They had another good match against another jobber team. I can’t wait to see what these two do with a team like MVP and Hardy or D and D. Thumbs up.

The Brothers of Destruction

So Kane and UT are a tag team again. I don’t think that will be the case very long as I believe Kane and UT will soon be back in the Heavyweight title picture. They are a great team and they beat the tag champs in a non title bout. Thumbs up!

Major Brothers

They weren’t in a tag match but Brett Major took on McIntyre in a singles bout and had his brother with him. I think currently, if they keep on this pattern, this is exactly where the brothers Major need to be. Taylor is a great veteran worker who could teach the Major Brothers a lot about the in ring work. Thumbs up.

Taylor and McIntyre

Well, McIntyre looked good and Taylor did his bit on the outside during McIntyre’s singles match. I think this is going to be the premiere team in Smackdown if creative allows them to be, and I understand that possibly Paul Burchill will eventually join them to create a faction, even better. Good Debut. Thumbs Up.

TNA

AJ Styles/Tomko/Cage

So Tomko and his Japan partner A-Train retained, awesome. Cage and Styles really worked the Cage’s Cabana angle. Then Tomko and Styles won the TNA Tag Championship. Awesome week for this duo/trio! Thumbs up.

Team Pac Man

Nice Promo on Impact. Nice loss at Bound for Glory. Can we say, “time-off until the NFL wants you back” Mr. Jones? Thumbs down.

Team 3D

I thought the TNA impact promo 3D did was the worst promo given by a tag team in this entire year. 3D lost their tables match to the Steniers at the Sunday PPV. Thumbs so far down we no longer can see you because Luke just threw you into the same abyss of a black hole we saw the Emperor go down.

The Steiners

They had a good promo at TNA Impact. “Hollar if ya hear me!”. Then they went on to kick butt at the PPV. The Steiner’s really are fantastic. Thumbs up

LAX

They won at Bound for Glory in what was arguably the best match of the night. Thumbs Way up! Glad to see no one got hurt by the way.

Triple X

They lost at the PPV but were one half of one of the best matches on the card, and the card was probably TNA’s best to date. So, Thumbs up to them.

In Closing

Not much to say this week other than it was a real solid week of tag team action. Look for my Cyber Sunday PPV by the numbers Column within the next couple weeks, and come on back next week for another edition of tag team weekly. I may even throw in a tag team spotlight if I get the chance! If you would like to see my myspace page or my personal one please look below and then head there!

The Tag Team of the Week Award goes to Tomko and Styles for not only wining the titles but just overall being two of the best workers in the division right now.

The Best Match of the Week Award goes to LAX vs. XXX.
