TNAlt PPV #1 - Wednesday, November 14

Location: Orlando, FL

Announce team: Jeremy Borash & Kevin Nash

After the usual pre-PPV video package airs, Jeremy Borash and Kevin Nash welcome to tonight's PPV. They run through the card, noting that they still don't know who will answer Samoa Joe's open challenge, and also noting that Jay Lethal is in attendance along with Miss Valerie. After that, they throw it to the ring, and we're underway with the opening match of the night.

LAX vs. XXX (Senshi & Elix Skipper)

We kick things off with LAX entering first. XXX follow them down to the ring, with Senshi still looking miserable. Borash notes that he’s been backstage earlier today and tells us that Senshi was not talking to anybody all day. Nash responds to that by saying "What does that matter? Now it’s Showtime, and for Senshi, that means its go-time." Skipper wants to start the match, but Senshi steps in front of him and orders Skipper to go stand on the apron. Senshi points across the ring to let us know he wants Hernandez to start the match with him.  Senshi kicks away at Hernandez’s legs and attempts a running dropkick. He connects, but it doesn’t knock the big man off his feet. Hernandez then takes Senshi down with a clothesline, so Senshi goes to the corner and immediately tags out.

Skipper and Homicide quicken the pace, running the ropes and hitting a couple of high flying moves. Skipper looks to be taking control of the match only for Hernandez to cheap shot him from the apron, allowing LAX to work him over. Skipper is beaten down for several minutes, as Senshi stands on the apron without once trying to interfere, although he does make the save from close near falls after Skipper is hit with a lariat and later a frog splash courtesy of Homicide.

Eventually, Senshi receives the tag and runs wild, kicking away at Hernandez and taking him down to one knee. With Hernandez still down, Senshi hits him with a running dropkick to the head which sends the big man flying to the outside.  In the ring, Homicide and Senshi get into a frantic sequence, with some really hot near falls. Senshi hits the double-stomp from Senshi, before we see the Cop Killa from Homicide - both getting 2-counts, the latter due to Skipper being able to return the favour and make the save for Senshi.

Skipper tags back in. He tries to hit Homicide with the Play of the Day, only for Homicide to counter and hit a Diamond Cutter. Hernandez throws Senshi into the steps on the outside to prevent him from making the save as Homicide covers Skipper and gets the win.  Winners at 14:31 – LAX

Backstage, Mike Tenay is with AJ Styles and Tomko as they prepare to defend their TNA Tag Team Titles against The Steiner Brothers. In a groundhog day moment from TV a couple of weeks ago, the interview is interrupted by Christian Cage, who is happy after hearing a rumour backstage that Ron Killings has missed his flight from Japan to Orlando, and that he'll win his ladder match tonight via forfeit. He leaves, with both Styles and Tomko shaking their heads at Cage for interrupting them yet again.

TNA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

AJ Styles & Tomko (C) vs. The Steiner Brothers

After both teams make their way to the ring, we get underway with Styles and Rick Steiner in the ring. Rick uses his size advantage to get an early upper hand before Styles evens things up with a dropkick, sending Steiner to the outside. AJ climbs to the top rope looking for a high risk move on the outside, only for Scott Steiner to push Styles off the top, sending him crashing into a guard rail on the outside. Rick Steiner capitalizes on his brother's assist, and body slams Styles on the outside, following it up with an elbow drop. As the referee prevents Tomko from helping his partner, Scott Steiner joins his brother, and they double suplex Styles onto the ramp.

Rick drags AJ back towards the ring, hitting him with a head butt before they climb back into the ring. Steiner hits him with a Steiner-line before tagging out to Scott, who hits Styles with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. He hits a Steiner-line of his own before attempting a German suplex. Styles manages to block it twice, and as Steiner attempts to hit the suplex a third time, Styles hits a Pele kick out of nowhere, sending Steiner crashes to the mat and allowing Styles to make the tag to Tomko.

Tomko takes it to both Rick and Scott, punching them both, and then hitting clotheslines on both. Scott manages to tag out to Rick, who is met straight away with a spinning side slam and then a big suplex for a two count. He cheap shots Tomko with a thumb to the eye and tags out to Scott, who charges at Tomko but ends up on the wrong side of a powerslam. Tomko makes the cover, but Scott Steiner breaks it up at two.

Tomko sends Rick Steiner into the ropes, but Steiner reverses it. Tomko makes the tag as he comes off the ropes and clotheslines Rick before AJ follows it up with a slingshot attempt which Rick manages to move out of the way of. Tomko and Scott Steiner brawl to the outside as Rick Steiner takes AJ to the top rope with him. Steiner sets AJ up for a bulldog off the top rope, but AJ manages to block it, and after punching Rick in the stomach, hitting him with a Styles Clash off the top rope. Tomko keeps Scott Steiner outside the ring as Styles covers Rick, and gets the three count. Winners at 12:31 and still TNA Tag Team Champions - AJ Styles & Tomko

Backstage, Mike Tenay is joined by Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks ahead of Roode's TNA World Title match with Sting later tonight. Roode talks about how Robert Roode Enterprises has a successful plan coming together, and how "that gullible idiot Kaz is a fool not worthy of being on PPV. Now, it’s the biggest match of my life, and I'm going to prove that I'm not just some money-obsessed fool with some eye candy. I'm a serious wrestler worthy of a spot in the main event. Tonight, I'll realise a lifelong dream by beating a legend and taking my rightful place at the top of the wrestling world."

A video package airs showing how tonight's ladder match between Christian Cage and Ron Killings came about.

LADDER MATCH

Ron Killings vs. Christian Cage

Christian Cage makes his way to the ring, complete with smug grin as Jeremy Borash and Kevin Nash discuss how Cage has heard that Ron Killings is not in Orlando and that the ladder match may be won via forfeit. The crane camera reveals that without any titles on the line here, a huge TNA logo is suspended above the ring, with the winner being the first to climb the ladder and grab the logo. Once in the ring, Cage attempts to get the referee to raise his hand and declare him the winner, but the referee refuses. Cage tries a second time, but as he and the referee argue, Ron Killings' music starts to play. The crowd react for Killings' music, but after twenty seconds or so, it stops, with no sign of Killings. Cage starts to laugh, and again tries to get the referee to call the match a forfeit. The referee argues with Cage, this time with less conviction as it appears Killings may not be in the arena. Killings' music starts playing again, with Cage this time leaving the ring and standing at the bottom of the ramp way, still with a cocky and smug look on his face.

With Cage looking up the ramp, Killings (dressed in jeans and a t-shirt) is shown running through the crowd. He jumps the guardrail at ringside and attacks Cage with a flurry of hard right hand punches. He wastes no time in looking to make an impact in the match, and picks up a ladder at ringside, only for Cage to see him coming and dropkick the ladder into Killings’ chest.  They head back into the ring, where Cage immediately brings the ladder into play. He suplexes Killings before looking to get a quick win, only for Killings to catch him half-way up the ladder and powerbomb him down to the mat. Killings takes control of the match from here, not relying on the ladder so much, but instead using his own tried and tested move set to take the match to Cage.

After a few minutes of Killings being in control, he lays a ladder on top of Christian before taking to the top rope. Jeremy Borash and Kevin Nash question what Killings has in mind, as 'The Truth' comes off the top rope and hits a 450 splash, putting his own body on the line as he connects with the ladder, and Cage underneath. Both men are laid out on the match for some time as the crowd goes wild for what they've just seen. Both struggle to their feet and start to throw punches back and forth. Cage ducks a wild right hand from Killings and hits a dropkick that sends Killings to the outside. Cage climbs a ladder, but realises that he won't be able to grab the suspended TNA logo from where he is positioned, so instead adjusts himself, and dives over the top rope to the outside, connecting with Killings below.

Again, both men stay down for some time. Cage gets back to his feet first and drags Killings up the ramp way towards the entrance way. At the top, they trade punches some more before Cage attempts a body slam, which Killings blocks before hitting a dropkick which knocks Cage to his feet. With the momentum showing signs of swinging in Killings' favour, AJ Styles and Tomko appear on the entrance way. Killings is forced to back off, and walks backwards towards where Christian Cage is stood. Cage low blows Killings and holds him still, motioning for Tomko to attack. Tomko looks at AJ Styles before charging at Killings. He looks to hit Killings with a big boot, but Killings frees himself and moves out of the way, with Tomko's boot instead connecting with Cage, who is sent crashing off the stage to the floor below.

An exhausted Killings looks at Tomko and Styles, with Tomko doing little to show whether he intended to hit Killings or Cage. As it becomes apparent that Tomko and Styles aren't going to get further involved, Killings slowly makes his way back towards the ring as the tag team champions check on Cage, who is barely moving. Killings slowly climbs into the ring as Jeremy Borash comments on how Killings was wrestling in Japan just hours ago. Killings sets up a ladder and with Cage still out cold near the stage, he eventually climbs to the top and is able to retrieve the TNA logo above the ring. Winner at 14:22 - Ron Killings

A worn out and exhausted Ron Killings pauses at the top of the ladder to soak up the crowd reaction as Kevin Nash admits that 'The Truth' is once again a force to be reckoned with in TNA. After they question Tomko's motives tonight and whether Christian Cage is causing problems within his own camp, Jeremy Borash adds that Killings has overcome the odds after last week's 3-on-1 attack to wrestle on opposite sides of the world within hours of each other to beat Christian Cage in his own favoured kind of match.

We cut to a video package showing what has happened over the past few weeks in TNA's Knockouts division, including how tonight's triple threat match for Gail Kim's title was announced, and the destruction caused by Awesome Kong in recent weeks. From there we head backstage, where Crystal is with Gail Kim. Gail Kim says she knows that Kong is frustrated, and that sooner or later, she'll have to go face-to-face with her, but tonight, she's focusing on Angel Williams and Talia Madison. As she finishes saying that, Awesome Kong attacks her from behind with a clothesline. She stomps on Kim's ribs before she is restrained by security. We see Kong ejected from the building before we cut back to Gail Kim, who is in considerable pain.

TNA KNOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH

Gail Kim (C) vs. Talia Madison vs. Angel Williams

After Talia and Angel make their way to the ring, the champion makes her way out, favouring her ribs as she walks down the ramp towards the ring. Kevin Nash says that the odds are now firmly stacked against Kim as a result of Kong's attack, as the match gets underway with Talia and Angel working together to attack her.

Kim is worn down and stretched by both her challengers for the opening few minutes. Angel Williams then picks Kim up, but Talia tells Angel to stop as she has an idea. She hits Kim with a Northern Lights suplex then makes the cover to try and get the pin, which Angel breaks up. Angel then hits Kim with a Cradle suplex and makes a cover of her own; this of course being broken up by Talia. Talia and Angel get into a shoving match before they start to trade blows back and forth. Gail Kim starts to recover as she sees Talia hit Angel with a clothesline. Angel gets back to her feet and avoids a running bulldog attempt by Talia. She turns around and kicks Talia in the midsection as Gail Kim gets back to her feet. Angel comes off the ropes looking for a running knee lift but Talia is pushed out of the way by Gail Kim, who locks Angel into a small package and gets the three count. Winner at 9:28 and still TNA Knockouts Champion - Gail Kim

After the match, Kim poses with the belt, still favouring her ribs, as Talia and Angel both look shocked that the champion has successfully defended her belt with the odds stacked against her.

We stay at ringside where Borash and Nash continue to put over Gail Kim defying the odds tonight to retain the title. They're cut short by the arena being plunged into darkness. Above the entrance way, a single light bulb is switched on, while behind it on the giant TV screen, the words "You won't be waiting much longer..." appear, as if they were written in blood against an off-white background which appears to be the door of the wardrobe we've seen in recent weeks during the eerie video packages.

Borash looks spooked out by what we've seen, and eventually regains his composure to turn his attention to The Motor City Machine Guns, who issued a challenge to Voodoo Kin Mafia a couple of weeks ago. Ahead of our next match, we cut to a video package showing how the Machine Guns have got to the PPV, and how they became aligned with Jim Cornette.

The Motor City Machine Guns (w/Jim Cornette) vs. Voodoo Kin Mafia

As the opening bell sounds, both BG and Kip James are seen mocking their younger opponents, only for both to get slapped and dropkicked to the outside, where Sabin and Shelley both hit simultaneous running dives to the floor. Sabin throws BG back in the ring and they go at it, with the Machine Guns dominating with several cool-looking double submissions and highflying combination holds, On the apron, Kip is getting madder and madder that he can’t do anything to stop Sabin and Shelley because everything they're hitting his legal and all double-team moves are being executed within the legal five count.

BG sells the beating really well, putting over the opposition’s big moves, and even letting Shelley counter the juke and jive punch combination by blocking the last punch. Shelley pokes him in the eyes and hits a Russian leg sweep into the Border City Stretch, only for Kip to make the save.  Eventually, BG is able to make the tag after the Guns miss a double top rope dropkick. Kip takes over with punches and a press slam on Sabin.  He then goes for the Fame Asser on Shelley but Shelley grabs the leg, trips Kip and locks him in a half-Boston Crab. Kip makes the ropes to break the hold, but the match develops into a four-way brawl. BG goes for the Pump Handle Slam on Sabin, who counters with a reverse DDT for a near fall. Kip then throws Sabin outside before VKM hit a spike piledriver on Shelley, who manages to kick out at two.

VKM look stunned as everything that made them the most successful tag team of the Attitude Era has not worked.  They look at each other as if to say “what the hell do we do now?” BG is tripped and dragged to the outside by Sabin, who throws him into the guardrail and hits a running dropkick that sends BG through into the crowd.  Back in the ring, Kip goes for the diving neck breaker but Shelley stays on his feet, elbows Kip in the chest and whips him into the ropes. With perfect timing, Sabin gets back in the ring and the Motor City Machine Guns hit a running double enzuigiri on Kip, who slumps to his knees and collapses, selling being knocked out. Alex Shelley covers for the pin.  Winners at 13:14 - The Motor City Machine Guns

With Kip James down and out, Jim Cornette gets in the ring and tells them to bring BG James back into the ring.  Shelley lays him out with Sliced Bread #2. Cornette lays his tennis racquet down on the mat, and then Sabin hits BG with Shell Shock onto the racquet, knocking him out cold. The Motor City Machine Guns leave with their arms raised in celebration as the former great tag team of the past are laid out unconscious next to each other. Jeremy Borash states that tonight clearly showed VKM were the team of the past, and time has clearly passed them by when against a great young team like Shelley and Sabin.

We stay at ringside, where Kevin Nash and Jeremy Borash continue to discuss how The Motor City Machine Guns made a statement tonight, leaving a legendary team laid out in the process. They wonder what this might mean for the future of tag team wrestling in TNA.  In mid-discussion, we hear the words "Can you dig it, sucka?" leading into some new music, and former WCW and WWE Champion Booker T makes his way to the ring along with his wife Sharmell. A shocked and excited Jeremy Borash and Kevin Nash put over Booker as a sure-fire Hall Of Fame legend, with Nash pointing out that Booker won his first singles world title from him, and that he’s also beaten such stars as The Rock, Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle and even TNA World Champion Sting.

Booker enters the ring, and grabs hold of a mic. He thanks the fans for the great ovation they gave him, and goes on to tell of how he got tired of "being held down where he used to work." He goes on, saying that he looks on Spike TV, sees the best young talent in the world, and knew that TNA was where he wanted to be.  He knew that in TNA he could get the respect he deserves, where he can end his career on a happy note, starting on TV next week.

Samoa Joe’s music hits and Joe makes his way to the ring.  He gets face to face with Booker before saying “Welcome to TNA” and shaking his hand.  Joe goes on, saying that although Booker might be a worldwide star who has been hugely successful in everything he’s done, he’s now in Samoa Joe’s house, and that means he’s in the line of fire.  Booker says he didn’t come here to fight; he just wanted to announce he had signed with TNA and introduce himself to their fans, before starting on the road to becoming TNA World Champion. Joe starts to back off and calms down...at least he does until Booker says he wants to become TNA World Champion. He stares at Booker and says, “Well, that means we have a problem. The next long-term World Heavyweight Champion in TNA will be Samoa Joe. I don’t care if you’re a six time, sixteen time, or sixty time former World Champion, Samoa Joe will break those records, and Samoa Joe will break your bones.”

Booker takes a step back from Joe and says he didn’t come here to fight, “but if some sucka gets all up in my grill then I’m gon’ have to take care of some bidniz. Now can you dig that...SUCKAAAA?”

Joe interrupts Booker’s trademark catchphrase with a slap to the face and the two guys get into a brawl, being pulled apart by not just security but also several members of the TNA roster.  Booker and Joe are screaming at each other as both guys are lead to the back through different exits.

A video package showing clips from the Fight for the Right tournament is shown, along with footage from last week's contract signing with Sting and Robert Roode. Ahead of our next match, we head backstage where Mike Tenay is with Sting. Sting says that for the past twenty years, he's seen young guys who were supposed to be "the guy who ended my career" come and go. He adds, "But I am still here. I'm the World Heavyweight Champion, and after tonight, I'll still be the champ."

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH

Sting (C) vs. Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks)

Both Sting and Robert Roode (along with referee Earl Hebner) are introduced by David Penzer once they enter the ring, proving that even though this is not the main event of the night, the match is still a big deal. Roode has dropped his usual cocky persona, and is looking much more serious, going so far as to even refrain from yelling and disrespecting Ms. Brooks as he usually does.

The challenger walks over to Sting, and shoves him hard in the chest, following that up by punching away at Sting in the corner as Kevin Nash puts over Roode's actions as being a great strategy to use, saying that "against Sting, you've really got to go right after him from the first bell to have any chance."  Sting fights back and clotheslines Roode to the floor before hitting a plancha to the outside. As he celebrates, we see Ms. Brooks checking on Roode on the outside. Sting goes after his opponent again, only for Ms. Brooks to protect her man. Roode uses the distraction to whip Sting into the ring apron and take over with hard punches and forearms.

As Roode dominates, Borash speculates that, "at 48 years old, perhaps time has caught up with Sting and a younger stronger opponent in the prime of his life might be too much to overcome."  Roode continues to dominate, hitting a press slam for which gets him a near fall and a running powerslam which also gets a two count.  Roode then whips Sting into the corner, but as he charges towards him, Sting moves, hits a chop combination, then whips Roode to the opposite corner where he hits a Stinger Splash.  Sting looks for the Scorpion Deathlock but Roode kicks away to counter.  As Sting rebounds towards the ropes, Ms. Brooks trips Sting and Roode hits a leg drop. Referee Earl Hebner refuses to make the count after seeing Ms. Brooks’s interference, and instead orders Ms. Brooks to the back.  Brooks gets on the apron to argue with Hebner, which leads to Kaz running towards the ring. He picks Ms. Brooks up, and carries her forcibly out of the arena, with Jeremy Borash commenting that the injustice of the Fight For The Right Finals is being righted here.

With that distraction over, Roode continues to pound away on Sting. He hits a big boot and gets a two count before looking to hit Sting The Payoff to finish things off. Sting manages to elbow out to counter the move, and then hits the Scorpion Death Drop for the clean pin.  Borash and Nash put over Roode for a big performance in the most important match of his life before praising Sting for holding off the young lion once more. Winner at 16:09 and still TNA World Heavyweight Champion - Sting

As Robert Roode makes his way to the back, obviously upset at not beating Sting for the title, Sting poses in the ring with his belt.

Backstage, Mike Tenay is with Christopher Daniels.  Tenay asks how Daniels is feeling about his biggest ever match, which is up next. Daniels says he means no disrespect to others who he’s had incredibly tough matches with, but "Kurt Angle is not only a great athlete, but he made it personal by attacking the X Division."  Daniels says he, AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal and others made the X Division the most exciting group of wrestlers in the world today. He adds that Kurt Angle might be the best wrestler in the world, but Daniels says he can beat anybody on any given night, "including you."

'BRINGING RESPECT BACK TO THE X DIVISION'

Christopher Daniels vs. Kurt Angle

David Penzer, just like in the previous match, provides us with post-entrance introductions in the ring to really give this a big-match feel.  Angle talks trash to Daniels as they go face-to-face after the bell rings, but Daniels just stares a hole right through him and won’t rise to the bait.  Angle backs off, then they tie up and Angle takes Daniels down, slaps him in the head a couple of times then gets on his knees with both arms raised in celebration.

They both get back to their feet. Daniels wins the next exchange, taking Angle down with an arm drag. Kurt ducks to the outside, far from happy that Daniels just outwrestled him. He returns to the ring where they lock up once more. Angle cheap shots Daniels by not breaking cleanly, and digs his knee into the chest of Daniels.  Angle takes over for several minutes, outwrestling Daniels and keeping him in a face lock and other holds on the mat. With Daniels down on the mat, Angle screams at him, "you can’t do your flip flop s**t when I’m wiping your face in the mat, loser!” During this period, 'Black Machismo' Jay Lethal and Miss Valerie make their way out to join the announcers. From the ring, Angle talks trash to them as well.

Angle looks to finish the match quickly with some quick pinfall attempts, but Daniels is always able to fight and escape by squirming around in Angle’s holds and moving his body so Angle is never able to pin him down. Angle eventually gets frustrated at being unable to put Daniels away, so throws him to the outside and whips him into the guardrail.  He brings Daniels back to the ring, stopping to whack Daniels head first into the ring steps five times on the way, busting Daniels open in the process before stomping away viciously in the corner.

With Daniels bleeding heavily, Angle then goes for the Olympic Slam, but Daniels escapes, lands on his feet, hits the STO to a huge pop, but immediately collapses.  Both guys get back to their feet at the count of nine. They trade punches, with Daniels getting the upper hand before screaming at Angle to get right back up and fight some more.

Daniels hits another STO and gets a near fall, then sets Kurt up for the Best Moonsault Ever, only for Angle to move at the last second so Daniels crashes and burns.  Angle kicks Daniels in the head then hits a moonsault of his own, but takes too long to cover as he gloats over hitting the move, resulting in Daniels kicking out at two.  Kurt punches away repeatedly at the cut on Daniels’ head as the camera zoomed in to show his whole face now covered in blood. Daniels fights back, then hits a sidekick and goes for the Angels Wings, but Angle blocks it and hits the Olympic Slam for another near fall.

Angle grabs Daniels’ head and slams him head first into the mat four times before covering again for a 2.999999 which gets a huge reaction from the crowd as Borash and Nash enthusiastically comment on how they thought it was over then. Angle goes for another Angle Slam, but Daniels counters by elbowing Kurt in the head and switches his body position to hit a bulldog for a two count of his own.  Daniels then hits the Angels Wings, but Kurt is too close to the ropes and the delay in dragging Kurt back to the centre of the ring allows him to escape a millisecond before the 3-count once again.

Daniels goes for the Angels Wings again, but Kurt drops down and locks on the Ankle Lock. Daniels shifts onto his back, grabs Angle’s arms for a takedown and locks on the Koji Clutch, only for Angle to eventually make the ropes.  Daniels looks shattered, but gets an evil look in his eye like he’s realized what it’s going to take to put Angle away.  He hits Angle with an Olympic Slam, but Angle is still able to kick out at two.  Daniels then picks Angle up by the head, but before he can get him all the way up, Angle head butts Daniels in the chest and trips him, before locking on the Scissors Ankle Lock, leaving Daniels with nowhere to go.  He squirms in the hold and fights his way towards the ropes, but Kurt drags him back to the middle of the ring and Daniels taps out. Winner at 33:22 and new #1 Contender for the X Division Title - Kurt Angle

After the match, Angle celebrates, but when Daniels gets back to his feet, Kurt offers a handshake.  Daniels goes to shake his hand, but Kurt pulls his hand away, spits in the bloody face of his opponent, and punches him down before locking the ankle lock in again.  Jay Lethal runs in from the commentary position and punches away at Angle, clearing the ring.

Lethal helps Daniels back to his feet and the two X Division stars hug and raise each others’ hands to close the show.
